Gearbox oil cooler. We'll be using it for the intended function by removing the oil/water intercooler from the side of the GT3 gearbox and piping the connection points to a conventional matrix oil cooler inside the spoiler.

Colin, you should use the D Zug 5 spoke wheels they are starting to make. They are impressive to say the least. They are re-manufactured from an original 935 wheel. Check them out at www.funfgruppen.com real cool guys.
And as always, great project. Can't wait to see the end result. But I guess I'm going to have too lol

They have their mag prototype done. They are just working on the off-sets for their replica 935 that one of the partners has. I'll post a photo of it later. I just don't want to hi-jack Colin's amazing build thread. I'm eagerly awaiting the photos of the car put together!!

Thought I better unveil the panelled shell before I lose everyone's attention...??
Note the new Bosch headlamps in the foreground waiting to be fitted.

Colin,
Could a similar build be done starting with a 993 as the basis? I think everything would fit and work and you'd get the updated rear suspension... Of course, I am a 993 owner, thus the line of thinking... No flames please. I love the 964! It's the last of the "old school" 911s... even though I know it was a thoroughly modern car.
You guys do absolutely fantastic work! Just fantastic~!

I say in theory because there would be a lot more work to do backdating the shell than is obvious due to the raised profile of the bonnet (hood) and engine lid:
1. Front inner wings would have to be cut down/replaced to lower the front of the bonnet
2. Scuttle panel replaced for 964 with correct profile & wide spacing of windscreen wipers. 993 panel is "hollow" to blend to the flatter bonnet line, 964 & earlier is flat.
3. Rear inner wings modified/replaced to lower back edge of engine lid
4. Rear deck (closure panel) replaced for 964.
5. Front & rear screen aperture lips re-profiled to accept 964 rubber seals.
Thus with all things considered, for an accurate 3.0 look-alike you have to start with a 964.

Three Wheelin'
I think going with a 964 shell is the best option for this 70's racer and will have the rawness of a 64 and the looks of a 70's racer.
Taking shape, looking very nice!
