I was jus saying that the 993 went on with no probes 996 was a pain. If you say 993 and 996 is the same sure it is. Got off the subject a bit because I have the three wheels, all been on the same car. But I Would not even know where to begine with clock springs to do a proper install..

that's interesting .. did you remove the original 964 and install the 993 yourself? what was required?

guess it is too late for me (as I bought another steering wheel option) but just curious

Unless I find a cheap steering column and clock spring it appears I am better off (financially) going to a nonairbag aftermarket arrangement , If you have the column or clock spring for sale please contact me

watch out for any insurance & legal issues if you remove original safety equipment (ie airbag to non-airbag wheel).

I did not have an airbag wheel and this is what I did ...

Thanks to all of you for your help, I will now begin the search for a reasonably priced 993 clock spring and steering column (before I get rid of the 993 steering wheel)

If you have 964 with airbag, you do not need a new steering column. I also have the plastic shroud for 993, it is brand new. BTW You can adapt the tiptronic buttons to control the radio

Thats funny Back in 05 you guys(rennlisters) had a thread about a car that I built. It was on ebay at the time... 3.3 turbo roadster.. I had a 993 wheel with Tiptronic but had a six speed in the car.. People were liltle confused why I did that..The buttons CONTROLLED THE STEREO!!!...Like the way the guy above thinks!!!! Did not need a 993 shaft for that one either... Try that wheel before you buy a shaft... sterring colum..
