Default Group Buy: Rear Tail Lights and Center Reflector

See GeorgeK's Thread "The factory just loves us....not!" for how it came to be.

Sunset is offering; rear tail lights at $200/per and the center reflector for $318 if sold in a confirmed quantity of ten. They said it would take awhile to get the sets, probably 2-6 weeks.

Shipping not included, but they are usually reasonable. We have two (me and zizu), need eight more.

As it seems I'm on RL every two hours, especially when at work, I'll keep an eye on this thread and look for 10+.

Superuser might be in (?).

Tentative List - Just to get an idea, no commitment yet.

1. me
2. zizu
3. Duck964
4. Bayside C4
5. parsecnc4 "The Man"
6. cindywxb aka iluvcarwashes
7. CarbrioArtie
8. Slips2
9&10. dcbailey (2 tl)/altarcha (2tl)/PChar (1tl)/92C2targa (1tl)/Brian96c2(cr)

Pretty close, with the partials its 8.5. I'd say the gb is holding its own and nearing success.

UPDATE 5/26; I'll say the partials are 9 & 10. If you're really in please PM me your name and I'll supply a list to Sunset. I'd like to give them a valid 10 so they'll be receptive to GBs going forward. Thanks.

UPDATE 6/2: If you confirmed, you're in. Sunset has deemed the 9 confirmed sets sufficient. The 9th being a center reflector and 2 left tail lights for three different people. Call their Parts Department; 1-800-346-0182, and ask for Bob McCarthy, the manager. I’ve provided a list of the participates names. The most recent information indicates the normal time to get parts from Porsche is 4-5 days if in stock. If there is a delay in getting inventory, Bob can send an email regarding order status – so you may want to provide your email address when speaking with him. Billing occurs when the parts leave Sunset, not any time prior. I've asked Bob to fill my order last so others can get theirs asap.

Cross your fingers on the refrigerator magnets.

UPDATE 7/5: This offering has ended. Big thanks to all who participated.

The ROW car lights are slightly different, they don't have the side markers in and the rear center reflector has the bulb holders/wiring/cutout backing for the fog lights.
The USA type reflector can be modified if you have the old euro reflector to scavenge and some minor electrical skills.
The rear lights will work, only look a tiny bit diferent.

I've asked Suset, will relay response. It's not a huge saving. Last time I asked, about a year ago, I think it was $750 for all three.

Their prices are pretty good to start with.

I would be in for a left tail light at $200.

Too bad I just paid full price for a right tail light and center reflector only 2 weeks ago,...

Well..Sunset has the retail at $480.61 for the center and $302.62 for each light.

To answer the real question, their normal pricing is $324.99 and $204.63. So the Group Buy is more of a gb than a GB but still a discount off already very attractive pricing.

I have not seen them for less.

Glad to get more info, seems more participants are needed to get to 10.

Count me in to pick up a spare set even though there is nothing wrong with mine, since I am planning to keep my 964's for as long as I live.

Aren't the taillights available on eBay for about $289 from time to time? Are they not Porsche original, or is there some other problem with them, other than normal eBay risks?

Unfortunately, I don't think I can afford a GB, much less a gb. If you follow through with this and anyone would care to be charitable, I would be interested in buying your used lights if they are a step up from mine, which are really bad.

I believe you're correct; $289...as opposed to $200.

Currently on the Bay for $249.
