Installing seat heaters in non-heated seats
I have a set of 964 seats that need new foam and upholstery. They are 12 way power, so they have a slot for the seat heater switch, but no heaters. Anyone know what would go into installing heaters and how much it should cost?
Were the seat heater coils imbedded in the foam? or are they an over-lay?
(These are the ones I offered for sale recently, and I'd still be happy to sell them cheeeeep - but in the event i keep them, may as well upgrade...)
thanks

It can be done and there are a ton of sites that will sell you seat heaters for your seat.
The big question is can you find the switch to go into the slot on your seat? That will give it the complete factory look.

I spoke with sunset a while back - they can get me the switch - but the question was which parts need to be ordered, how to install, etc...I am not enough of an expert to really put the whole thing together - but would like to try if I keep the seats since my 964 is my only car and we get cold in the north east...Not hugely important but a nice to have...

If the seats must come apart, it is not big work to put in the heaters.
What will be expensive is the switch and relay. Brace for these, they go in the hundreds.
Frankly, forget the Porsche parts and go for an aftermarket heater with a switch discretely placed anywhere else.
I did that with factory parts only because I had them from a set of spare seats I bought.

They draw a lot of amps... so there is a relay somewhere. that might be the simple solution. Seat Heaters are possibly the best innovation in cars ever... They feel great on a cold morning etc.
