Pete,
If we want to leave our cars totally stock and undrilled, etc, what is the list of parts required on top of your kit?

911.631.933.00 or 911.631.141.00 x 2 Chrome or primered ring.
911.631.033.00 x 2 screw
911.631.132.00 x 2 screw

Is this correct and complete?

Thanks

No, I think that if you were to follow the euro H4 installation you would actually use both rings. The primered ring (911.631.141.00) looks like it attaches to the chrome ring (911.631.933.00) using the 2 screws (911.631.132.00 and 911.631.033.00).

I believe that there are no attachment or adjustment rings included with the HID assembly which is why Pete is suggesting it might be possible to modify your existing H5 ring (911.631.142.00) although that is not an approach I would want to take in case I wanted to revert to stock at some point.

So if I understand this correctly a “proper” installation could mean an additional $400 in rings and screws not including paint. BTW "proper" will mean different things to different people. Some will be happy with just the chrome adjustment rings while others will be happy to modify their existing H5 rings (although it is debatable if the H5 ring will even fit the H4 assembly). I think "proper" means that my car looks stock as possible which means that I add another 60+% to the cost of the HIDs should I wish to proceed.

all you really will need are 911.631.933.00 x 2
I believe these come in chrome and primer black. trim rings do hide the adjustment screws, but porsche didn't use them for many years and just painted the H4 adjustment ring. you H5 trim ring screw will work to hold the H4 ring in place.

Your correct, I do not supply attachment/adjustment rings with the kit, I have them listed as an option which is priced directly from Porsche(who apparently thinks their made from gold). Used ones come up for sale periodically on here, ebay, and pelican. There are many ways to go about installing the buckets if you do not currently have H4's, some more cost effective then others.

Pete can you supply the rings in black instead of chrome? If not would you (or anyone else) know the p/n for them?

Thanks and looking forward to seeing these in action on my car.

Anybody have a reference with pictures to show the difference between H4 and H5? I am understanding this correct that USA stock cars have H5?

Pete - Thanks for delivering on the group buy. I'm looking forward to being enlightened... =P

For others with H5s that are interested in this kit and looking to source H1/H4 rings, All Automotive in Washington sells new H4 kits with chrome or black trim rings for $359 shipped on eBay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/330688938468?item=330688938468&viewitem=&vxp=mtr
When you consider the cost of new rings, a good alternative is to purchase a set of new H4s and sell your H5s to offset the cost.

Not to continue the ring discussion, but when I look at the European 964 Pet it references part number 911.631.933.01 and all of the discussions above reference part number 911.631.933.00. As I understand it these are the adjustment rings and aren't supplied in this kit.

But, can anyone tell me the difference between the .00 and .01 versions?

I would like to do this properly and if I order the trim rings, will it matter which adjustment rings I have?

I happen to have H5s today, so I need some of these extra pieces.

Thanks

Funny you mention this, Hamah and I were just discussing this. I have always used the .00 part number, but Hamah had noticed that the .01 part number is $10.00 cheaper. We couldn't see any visual difference in the parts so .01 may have superceeded .00 at some point.

Ricardo,
Yes USA cars came stock with H5's. the easiest way to tell the H5 from the H4 is the H5 trim ring will have adjustment holes with rubber grommets in them at the 12 and 9 o'clock position and the H5 lens will have the adjustment nipples on the lens. H4's have a smooth lenes and will have the adjustment screws at the 1 and 7 o'clock position or will be covered with a trim ring.

For the adjustment rings, the .00 and.01 could differ as to the finish: chromed vs black.
