C4 ABS Brain- WTB
Guys,
I'm in need of a C4 ABS brain. Mine is faulty and I've checked the Renns Marketplace with 0 results. I know this is an extremely expensive part new, (upwards of $5k) so I'm hoping fellow 964's know where to look for a used one. Fyi, I've checked Ebay with negative results as well. The part number is 964 618 126 00.
One of the local shops might have a used one for approximately $1500 and I'm still waiting to confirm.
Thanks in advance.
Dave

I did a Google search for "Porsche 964-618-126-01". There are a couple companies listing that they have them. The prices are high ($4K+). Have you tried calling Loren at Systems Consulting about possible repair?

Thanks all for the research and help.
I haven't called Systems Consulting, but will definitely look into them, thank you.
A friend who is the head mechanic at a local Porsche dealer told me it needs to be replaced. TPC Racing also checked it out and said the same.
Wife is balking at the cost (I can't really blame her) so this might have to be held off for awhile.
Thanks again!

My ABS Control Unit is completely shot and has been for the past 3 years, I've been driving and even autocrossing the car without any issue while my search for a reasonably priced unit for my 91 C4 continues.

The 964 ABS units are exposed to corrosion damages due to the position of the main electric connector. Any water will stay in the harness assembly and the connector pins will corrode and eventually break.
I've tried to repair this only once, and will never try again. The unit's sandwiched PCB construction combined with a flexible PCB strip and a lot of feedthrough capacitors make it really hard to do any lasting repair of the pins. This, combined with the safety importance of the unit prevents me to do anything with these at all. At least without a complete spare connector with caps. Even then it would be a major issue due to the flex-strip solder job.
Keep the ABS unit dry folks!
Cheers,
Tore
