I've learned a lot in the first year of ownership and now do all work myself.
Also keep in mind that there is a difference between an oil leak and oil seepage.
Seepage can be not much of a worry, but an oil leak that drips might be.

Body is in very very good condition
Interior is a little worn...but also not very appealing

in the first scenario...what would this car be worth??
You don't say where you're located? U.S. , Europe, elsewhere?
Any mods yet? Suspension/brakes/etc...
Original paint work ?

Sorry...Moorestown, NJ. What is interesting...the company I work for is close to where you are. I work remotely.

The car has had minimal paint work...I think the front bumper has been resprayed otherwise original no accidents.

The car is bone stock...

I don't understand why the owner will not take the time to go over the records with you?

I would insist and If he/she is to busy, then I would move on. This is a important aspect to the buying process in my opinion

Agreed ! The owner I bought my car from had a entire 3 ring binder full of records dating back to the early 90's. Had 48k worth of receipts. I probably would have passed if the records were not so extensive.

That said, if the ppi comes back ok, I'd say around 16-17k.

I'm sorry if the PPI comes back clean I think the car is worth $18K to $22K depending on pictures. What is the seller asking for? $16K to $17K seem low for a well sorted C2.

It's possible that there's sellers out there who actually want to sell more than squeeze out a few more $k on the recent appreciation of the 964. If you can get a deal, just do your homework, and get your deal, hehe.

Look at the first thread in this forum "964 prices".

This will give you an idea of people actually paid for their cars.
This is the best resource around for pricing.

I did check out that thread.

My main concern is buying it right knowing that it has not had an engine rebuild....based on the feedback I feel pretty comfortable.

Thanks to all for your input.

Deman Motorsports is on the other side of the Hudson from Rennwerke. Get a second opinion as there are many good Indy shops around. I go to another guy who is one mile away from Woodbury Commons as well. He is currently rebuilding a 964 engine for a Rennlister and services a few Rennlister's cars.

Thanks...what is the name of the second shop?

Which one would you recommend out of the two?

I would feel better getting a PPI done from someone other than the shop that has been servicing since 2005.

The second shop is CIM motorsports. 845 928 6683. he located at 41 Smith Clove Rd, NY 10917

Irek(Rick) is the owner and his wife Margaret is the office manager. He is a big fan of 964s.

OK...I may be crazy...but I am going to not have the PPI done on the car.

I went there to view the car in person and had the owner drive me in it and then me drive it. No doubt oil leak but it drove well and the engine was steady as can be...which surprised me. I did smoke on start up but once warm it did not smoke...the car shifted well and seem to have a decent amount of power.
