You might have to up your budget Steve because Raoul's is on the money for a good one these days.....and they're only likely to go one way.

Totally agree with what you are saying, I've seen some buckets since I've been looking with my budget but why is it, when I always go to buy any car their prices always seem to be on the crest of a wave does anyone else feel the same?
Two years ago I could (and should) have had a pretty decent one for around 13 14k!!! the prices have just taken off, why
Anyway still looking....!!!

cheers

Steve I hear you. I ended up paying more for my 964 than I sold my mint low miles 993. I just couldn't find a decent one without paying good money. Having said that and the work I've had done I would have no hesitation now buying one that needs work and investing money into it up to what good ones retail at.

£5k into the right car can be money well spent.

My thoughts exactly, I let one past at 10k 2 moths ago with a smokey engine but otherwise very good with MOT a little TLC and a few grand would have given me a car (by todays prices) worth 18 to 20k..
I viewed one recently for £17500 and would not have given £1700.50... some people are just trying to take the ****.
But if the right car comes along and I have to stretch the budget so be it. until then still looking.

cheers

Have to agree with the others. Better to pay a few k more to get a car that someone has lavished money and attention on. Raouls car sounds very fairly priced given its a c2 manual coupe (in the best colour!) which at the moment are the hardest to find and most sought after.

Very soon, I will lay out my experience with new ownership of a 1990 C4. Believe me, bringing an average car up to spec will cost $$$. If you can afford to, get the right car first time and give it a very good PPI so you know what you're likely in for. The common fail points are getting more expensive to repair as critical parts go up in price e.g. check out the price of a Hydraulic pressure switch or long oil hose.

Hi This car has just come up

Pete has 0ne to many 911s and is looking to sell

http://911uk.com/ads_item.php?id=455...a1b056bc7ea111

Just to add he has done a lot of work the first part of this year on this car and if it was not for getting his 964 C2 back after the longest engine rebuild in history I doubt he would be parting with it

Raul's car sounds like a lot of car at that price... I would seriously consider it if I were you, it sounds cheap to me for a C2 with rebuild and those extras (as long as PPI checks out).

Agreed 100%.

The best advice you'll get - spending the money getting a car up to scratch will cost you more than buying one that's already had the money spent on it.

Save more - buy right - you'll spend less in the long run.

+1 on having a look at Pete's C4. Plenty of reading for you about what Pete has done with it on this thread on 911UK:

Just to summarise: C2 manual (the holly grail, best of the best ;-)), well maintained, circa 20k...
