Default America Roadster Questions

Found this for sale: http://www.costasauto.com/1992_Porsc..._198980217.veh

Although the VIN does correspond to an america roadster, there are multiple little things that are not matching, unless the register is missing a bunch of details (http://www.turbo-look.de/964-en.php).

First, I read that the rear badge is supposed to say "Roadster" and this one says "Carrera", second, it says that it should not have rear seats, and this one has half rear seats. I thought the car could've been an import, but the VIN matches an US version...

Anyone know more about these America Roadsters?

Seems a good price for the mileage (but the ad has no details at all)

This seems to be a more "normal" price: http://www.grautogallery.com/details...search=&page=1

Same year, almost twice the price... But the correct badge, storage compartments in the back.

On Ars, the rear badge has been said to read either Roadster or America Roadster, and probably some other variations. The reason given is that it was not installed at the factory but rather at port or dealer (can't remember which), therefore yielding to variations.

This particular car may appear to have been repainted (spoiler grille looks to be white instead of black), so it would be possible that they broke the Roadster badge at some point and replaced it with a simple Carrera badge since the Roadster one is no longer available.

As for the rear seats, ARs definitely had them removed in favor of the storage compartment so this car does not look right. On another note, a 1992 AR with flag mirrors? I don't think this is correct. Personally, I would not touch this car.

Edit: Here is an AR with no badge, AR with America only, AR with America Roadster. I am sure you can find other variations.

Thanks for the input. I knew there was something fishy

If only I would've seen this one before (in the super rare and desirable Maritime Blue color):

the "america roadster" was part of a limited production (<2000 globally)...of which some 250 were imported into the usa as 'america roadster'. in europe the wtl cabs (turbolook) were branded as carrera 2 or left unbranded.
rear seat delete usually not a feature on wtl cab.
VIN rules in determining heritage.
