So, as a complete newb to all things ABS related, if I were to replace sensors and brain, what should I go for?

Car is for spirited driving only and becoming more of a track toy which is why I'm thinking replacing with standard items might not be ideal.

Some food for thought - is there any difference with RS, 993, GT2, GT3, Bosch other???

The reality - it can't cost bonkers £££

You are SOL unless you want to spend money. You have a 3 channel ABS system and any upgrade in performance will require a 4 channel ABS system. I have successfully converted these cars to 993GT2 Race ABS, 996 GT3 Cup ABS, Bosch Motorsport M4 ABS, and Teves racing ABS. All options are pretty spendy.
