Default Curious before possible purchase

Has anyone in the Carmel, Indiana area checked out the red 89 coupe4 for sale for 31k+ at Abreu Motors ?? If so, or any secondary info on this car, can you let me know? Am looking for same and want to prevent a possible "ugly surprise after purchase". Thanx!! P.S., the Carfax info on the ebay ad shows some possible "funny business".

Carfax is notoriously unreliable. I haven't looked at the ebay listing but the car presents well and is nicely priced in my opinion. As I am sure you are aware though, this is a pre-power assisted steering 964 w/o airbags. In addition, this motor would have originally come from the factory w/o head gaskets.

The car looks good to me from the info on their website.
It's obviously been very well prepared for sale with every bit of trim looking bright and shinny. There are no shots of the underside of the engine for example.
Other than that the price seems reasonable in today's market place.
Best get a PPI done as soon as possible and go from there.
How many days left for the end of the auction?

Just to correct the early 89 964 was not pre power assisted steering. They had the power steering from the beginning of 89.

Wow. Either prices for 964s have really gone up in the past few years, or those folks in Indiana really think a lot of their Porsches. The 993 prices seemed high as well, but then, those cars have been stupid-expensive for quite a while.

Have they peaked, or still set for rise due to the "get one for summer enjoyment" factor? (even though this is a coupe and not a convertible)

I stand corrected. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. For some reason I thought it wasn't introduced until '90 MY.

the 964 prices are on the rise, especially the 92 and 93 model years
coupes are crazy high and with the exchange rate anything nice is going to Europe .. for them still cheaper and for a nice car nobody differentiates anymore uh a American model it's 15k less, no all the same now ..

Check the great american cars for sale thread.

BeachBoy: Just curious about your definition of "affordable"?

There are C2's for sale, but it seems that most of the guy's posting WTB threads only want to pay 2010 prices.
Affordable can't be defined as if you have set your budget at 15k, you are going to struggle to find one.
If you budget is 25 - 35k you'll find something.
A silver 60,000 mile car has just come up on Pelican for $30k.
A 2 owner car!
That's a bargain these days as it would probably sell for $35 - 40 easily.
Not sure if it's a 2 or a 4.

STUARTQ: I agree! And, a 35-40,000$ car is not only lots less than half of the original selling price, plus sales tax, etc., but when you consider the difference in buying power of an early 90's dollar versus today's dollar, it makes even more sense. That silver/navy car probably sold on the first or 2nd phone call. Cheers, and happy GOOD FRIDAY !!!
