Thanks Bill.

The rears are going off for a complete re-build. Have I understood correctly that I should ask them to remove the valves?

Stuart

The valve isnt part of the caliper

There is only one and its part of the brake system by the spare wheel/battery

Looks a nice job on the brakes Steve, I dithered over those calipers, they look a bargain

Managed to install a Sparco Evo on the drivers side of mine today, have to say, not the easiest job ever and very frustrating the amount of times I had to bolt and unbolt everything before it all fitted up.

Have to say though it makes the car feel completely different to drive, in a good way, even without harnesses you feel much more connected to the car.

Will try to do the passenger side during the week

Exactly my thoughts when I first put in the Recaro PPs.

The feel is very similar to the standard set up. Just a shorter movement. My gearbox has always felt notchy when cold. Especially that first shift to 2nd as I pull away. The short shift is exactly the same in that it needs to be warm for the best shifting. Once it's warm, it's definitely nicer and quicker to use.

...and it's closer to the steering wheel, an important improvement IMO.

These have now been fitted using caliper adapters, Solid 928 S4 rotors and Brembo HP2000 pads in 993 fitment.

As the car was going in to my indy (Unit 11) to do the conversion I decided to add the RS short shift and a set of H&R anti-roll bars at the same time:

The results of the upgrades are great. The roll bars are currently on the softer setting at both ends but it's now much sharper to turn in and feels much stiffer. The gear change is shorter and has a nice throw. Particularly, the down shift to 2nd under hard braking - this one has always been the hardest to get right on track sessions. And as expected, the brakes are fantastic and inspire confidence when they're worked hard.

The only issue that cropped up during the upgrades was that the DesignTek caliper adapters were shocking quality for what they cost (£200 for the pair). We needed to get shims made up so that they would fit the rotors correctly and therefore use longer bolts than the ones supplied. And when the first caliper bolt was torqued up, the threads sheared in the adapter - so we had to put helicoils in both adapters in order to use them. If anyone else is thinking of doing this upgrade I'd advise choosing the Rennline or FVD versions instead.

Now looking forward to seeing how she goes on a track day next month.
I had one of those big boxes arrive from H&R this weekend too, hopefully fitted next week
