Short of 'we're going to lose our house if we don't sell the car', any wife who demands her spouse sell something he loves and cherishes has some issues.
I don't know your background (age, how long you've been married) but her demands of this nature won't stop. Seriously, I think you need to take a long look at your marriage.

time to sell
Smokey,
Whereabouts are you located. I believe you are in the thumb of Michigan but am not sure exactly where. I am located in Ontario and may be interested in coming to look at your car if it is not too far of a drive.

I'm confused. If you don't need the proceeds from the sale of your 964 to buy this mustang your wife seems to want, then why do you have to sell? I agree with everyone else that there's got to be something wrong in your relationship when your wife would make you get rid of something you clearly love!

Sorry for being a cynic here but I think we've just witnessed the best marketing job for his car.
The OP has managed to garner a whole bunch of sympathy and a great back story about being the guy who is reluctantly parting with the car so don't try and low ball him.

Doubt there's much low balling going on in 964 sales. The market sets the price, not the reluctance of the seller.
Smokey: I say give her a proper rodgering, then confidently state that you've decided to keep your car. Either way, enjoy it!

Didn't he offer the car with a ton of extras for 35k...
Many I us have watched this car from the time he brought it home...imho, he low-balled himself...
Sorry smokey. I know you priced it to sell, but I think for this car and the extras you should be 45k at least.
I also think you shouldn't sell it if you aren't going to immediately spend the money. Stick it under a cover in the garage and keep it running. The car will appreciate much more than your next investment. You'll be 100k next year...

So I was searching for a different angle.

Agreed, heck of a deal at that price with all the extras considering asking prices these days.
