Default Specialist Components 964 kit - any real world experience?

As the title says, does anyone have real world experience with the kit?

I already have the Steve Wong chip and recall the debate over its effectiveness. I've read the article in the 911 & Porsche World mag, with the dyno chart, but I prefer to be a follower not a leader, so who has installed the kit and what difference did it make to their car?

Go read through the latter pages of robt964's "964 Refurb" thread.

I have been following that epic thread, but after the install he went off to other projects so the dyno run etc either didn't occur or at least get documented. His skills are light years ahead of mine. I'm hoping there's a less skilled person who can report back, preferably with a dyno run before and after.

The dyno run and plot will hopefully be done in Jan. I just haven't the time to take a day out to do it since Specialist Components only operate on weekdays. Zero issues with it so far tho.

Thanks for the reply. I've been around 964s for a long time and in the day there were long threads about the hp gains (or not) from putting holes in the intake box or Kone filters so I thought the promise of a 20% power increase would have the same excitement, but it seems not. Maybe power is no longer of interest to 964 drivers.

I've ordered the kit. Now I need some self discipline to do a before and after dyno.

Its worth remembering, the relative merit of the kit is not soley based on any gains made by doing this swap in isolation. The same can be said for ANY standalone. An ECU purely does what its told. It's the dyno technician who unlocks the majority of the potential. The real benefits are realised once modifications are made to the engine.

Really interesting to have more user to this ECU. This is what I've been thinking for myself but I wonder do I able to tune this properly and get all potential out of it. For here it's much easy for well know ECU's like Motec but because lack of liquidity this package sounds very tempting.

I just read about this kit in the magazine too, and I'm excited to see mods like this is being develop for the 964. I'm putting on an aftermarket exhaust system right now, and this might be my next project.

John, can you please share your experience with the kit once you have it install?

I think that one of the best upgrade is to drive the sparks through ECU

John, if I can I'd like to bring it out to your shop before I fit it. It says DIY, but I figure you know your way around things like injectors better than I do.
