Default LOJACK OR ????

What is the state of the art in tracking protection for our cars? I know it use to be Lojack but with all the advances I wonder what else may be available.

I am wondering this as well. I think LoJack for Classics is the LoJack system for our cars.

I had this on my S2000 and RSX and police were able to retrieve the RSX with the LoJack system.

What LoJack system did you use exactly (classics or regular)?

It was fine. The hood rat that broke into my house used it to haul his loot home. He even was nice enough to lock it up in the apartment complex parking lot he lived in which was less than a mile from my house. Problem was his neighbor saw him park it. The cops were all excited thinking they could do a high speed chase. When I went to get it there were 6 cop cars surrounding it and a helicopter overhead

I had the boomerang 1 system installed by the dealership when I first purchased the cars. You have to call to report it With Boomerang 2 system it is always on and will drain you battery but will notify police as soon as the car is moved without the keyfob that it comes with.

Thanks. Do you have experience with any of these?

Lojack works by emitting a radio frequency that is picked up by law enforcement once it's activated. Tried and true system that is hard to fool. There are stories of lojacks in container ships being detected even after the ship has left the port. GPS based systems are good as well, as they will show you exactly where the car is, but these are easier to block. Think about how easy it is to lose signal on your gps or satellite radio. An underground parking garage or concrete obstruction will make it possible to hide your car from the satellites.

There are benefits to both systems, but if you are only choosing one, and live in an area where law enforcement can locate lojacks (they must have the equipment installed in their car/boat/helicopter), lojack is probably the way to go.

When I was looking around the one downside to Lojack that I found is its area coverage. Its very particular where it will work, and I suppose all it would take is for the thief to drive out of the coverage area for you to lose contact.
