I'm about due to consider replacing my AC or repairing what's in the car. Dug a little deeper and looks like there's more details in this blog post from yesterday:

Some images cribbed from that website for those who can't bother to click through.

Tough to say -- whether one can infer as much from this line in the blog post: "Removing the full factory system including the hard lines from our test car and replacing it with our cutting edge technology, as found in the latest Ruf and Singer vehicles, has transformed the user experience."

Classic Retrofit just posted this:
Pre-orders for our brand new electric air conditioning kit for Porsche 964 models open this month. More details coming soon!

No affiliation other than a potential customer. I'm excited to see this finally come to market!

Now, I will wait and buy it as soon as it becomes available as I would rather have this system in place.

I wonder how well (if at all) it integrates with the existing CCU.

Going by the cost of the classic 911 full kit, it's going to be expensive...
UK £3k +VAT
US $4k +TAX
But I've seen the quality of Jon's kit and it's very impressive.

A quick review of the install manual is very disappointing. Not what a lot of people were hoping for. The original CCU, blower fans, and the air box with all the servos are reused and must be in good working order. It replaces the engine driven compressor, which is the cheapest and most reliable part of the original system.
The performance of the original system isn’t the problem. Mine puts out 44 degree air with outside temps in the upper 90’s. Could benefit from a little more airflow. What is most needed is a new air box with modern cheaply replaceable parts like fans, servos, and CCU.

For a lot of people with non functional AC, the main issue is knowing which part is the culprit. Replacing ALL the lines with original Porsche parts is an expensive exercise (some lines are over $400). Our kit replaces everything in the refrigerant loop with new so you don't have any doubt about whether there is debris in the hoses or pinholes in the lines. Having all the kit up front means easier install and access.
The compressor on the engine is an eyesore for many.
