If I am correct OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturers.

This means its the same company which makes the parts on your car but they're not being sold in a Porsche box. For instance, a Bosch starter motor as opposed to a Porsche one, the difference is just the box and about £200 less for the Bosch item.

I THINK this is correct... hope I'm not talking outta my a$$...

I think sometimes OEM parts may not be the identical spec. as the real McCoy.

Genuine Porsche parts may have certain parameters that the 'general' OEM ones might not match. Might be hair-splitting, but it depends on the nature of the particular part.

It sounds crazy to change the spec.? Why do they do that? Legal reasons?

I think it's more a cost-vs-quality issue.

e.g. Porsche might only accept parts within a certain percentage of the specified tolerances.

Genuine Porsche parts carry a Porsche part number (if they are big enough). OEM parts are as described by Riccardo and John.
Answer in a nutshell. Porsche parts are Porsche parts and OEM parts are not Porsche parts but they might look like them and even have the same OEM part number.
