Default 4 wheel Dyno 101 questions please?

Are all 4 wheel Dyno setups "linked" ?

Is this the only setup I should pursue for a C4?

Could I get overview of process? For example, Do they tap into the Motronic ECU and make use of our narrow band O2 sensor or shove a sniffer in the exhaust that uses a wideband O2?

I assume they run up to 6500 ish RPM ? how long to they hold various RPM positions ?

What's on a print out, just HP, Torque, Air/Fuel mix?

I'm noobie, what can I say

I have some insight here, but mostly questions.

What brand of dyno?
What model of that brand?

Not all AWD dynos are linked.
No OBDII link is going to attach to a 964.
They will use a tailpipe "sniffer" unless you have a bung to put a wideband sensor into.
Most chassis dynos are speed limited not RPM, so they will run to whatever you are comfortable with or rev limiter.

We have ONE shop only I am told that has "linked" dyno, I have seen it, nice...

Interesting, speed vs rpm, got it... Is it logical that those sniffers are wideband?

Ask for the brand/model before committing to be sure. I ran my C4 on a Mustang 1100. A tailpipe o2 will always be a wideband, there isn't any point using a narrowband sensor. Also, ask to make a calibration run for their o2 sensor, just hold a steady throttle above 2k rpm, in neutral, and the reading will bounce between about 14.3-15.1 and average our to 14.7. If it doesn't, then their sensor calibration is off.

But, what exactly are you tying to accomplish?

Appreciate the info... Accomplish, to keep my sanity ... I am not happy with throttle response for one.. I did mucho work and want to be sure all systems are GO ... One quick way to know if your a/f is being managed correctly, Dyno... I'll do it after Indy visit .. Not even sure if all Indy shops have exhaust sniffers? They just read OBDIi,III, etc. Not our analog Pcars Waiting for my time slot of indy later this month to give once over... I have a scan device that is apparently posting phantom knock counts when probably have none, coupled with me reading way too much on detonation... I can hear 3 different sounds every six inches I move across the back of engine bay .. . I want a PRO ear and sign off on ignition timing, a/f, all systems go ... Report card kind of thing... Take you work before the professor and get the "good effort , close, but not close enough, here let me correct" ...

I'll share what we find...
