Talking Looking for a 91-94 Turbo

Well guys i think i'm now ready to buy my dream car a 91-94 Turbo.Though i would like to have a 91/92 but if the price is reasonable will definately look into 94 too.I would prefer one with under 40K miles in red/silver or even black. If you know of anyone selling the car that fits the above criteria please let me know.
Thanks.

There is a red one for sale at: http://www.mcgeorge-mercedes.com/ in Richmond, VA. There asking price was $47000 but reliable sources said it could be had for $38000. I am not affiliated with this dealer in any way.

Yasir,

Everyone has a different idea of what is reasonable. Whats your $ range and how far are you willing to travel to get it. There are a ton of cars out there. You didn't mention interior color or if it has to be stock or modified. I am always looking, if you let me know I will pass on what I see.

Anthony,
Here you go :
Color: Red or silver and 3rd choice black
Miles: under 40K
Exterior: Absolutely no paint work
Interior: I would prefer tan over black
Service History: Definately have to have it
Price: Very touchy topic but i think high 30's to low 40's for a 91-92 C2T and low to mid 50's for a 3.6T won't be unreasonable. Thanks for your help
PJ:
I'll try to contact the owner but i think that car will go for mid 60's,thanks any way.

Yasir,

Like all of us we want the right car for the right price. unfortunately because of the limited quantity of these cars, the market is more in favor of the seller than the buyer. Everything in the right price range has one issue or another. I spent many months looking for my car and have kept a constant eye on the market since. I decided in the long run a few extra $K was worth spending on the right car. I paid up for color combo and paint but plan on keeping the car.

I have tried to help several people look for cars. The final outcome is always the same. You either need to pay a premium for a really nice car or you have to make minor consolations. Especially in the 3.6 market. Almost every 3.6 in the under $60k price has either paint work or some issue. Out of close to fifty 3.6's I have reviewed I have only seen two or three that had no issues that sold for $60k or under. The rest have had paint work, mechanical problems, ugly color combos or high mileage. Most cars have been modified in one way or another although the sellers want you to believe otherwise.

I have been trying to help someone look for a 3.6. After reviewing about ten cars, each has had an issue, some more than others.

IMO I always recommend finding a mechanically sound car and then evaluating the quality and extent of the paint work. Paint work can be a simple respray to cover up standard rock chips or could be covering hidden accident damage. If done right respraying for rock chips makes little difference and unless you plan on showing the car will probably go unnoticed.

If you would like I can point you towards some cars that are in the right price range but you will have to decide if you want to accept the history. I can show you other cars that meet your criteria but you will pay extra for them. I wish there was a simple answer but have found there is almost no happy medium.

You may want to start at dupontregistry.com Item # 136946 Red and tan , 25,900 miles asking $55,900.00 Florida car. I don't know if it has any issues but at that price I would look very closely. If paint and color is your priority you mayhave more luck searching for a 91 or 92 3.3l.

If you would like I could give you more .6's to look at but they all have issues or the price is above $60k.

Good Luck

Anthony,
You are absolutely right and yes i know i would have to pay the premium as it's a matter of supply and demand thing but still no harm in looking around. However i think i have to narrow down my search to 91/92 as 94 gets a bit more expensive.
So if you have any leads on a nice 91/92 please let me know. Thanks again.

Yasir, good to hear you're bowing out of the '94 search. That leaves one less buyer for me to compete against.

That said, Cobalt has been very gracious sending me .6 leads and most have turned up dry. If you are willing to spend $60k there are several out there, but I am looking for less. Once you look for less, as Cobalt said, it all becomes a trade off.

At some point I might "drop" to the 3.3 search myself.

Dr,glad to hear that you are not looking for 3.3 yet However i wish i could convince myself on selling the Estoril Blue 98 M3-4 i have,in my pursuit of a 3.6 but i would rather have two toys to play with than just one.
Anyway these are great cars and i know we'll be happy with which ever we buy.Yes anthony has been very patient and very supportive of me as well, thanks again to him and to the other members .
