Default 275/35 ?

Hey guys -
anybody here running 275/35 on Speedlines (rear)? Even better if Michelin SS or PS 4S. Would love to see pics.

I’ve been running 285/35 (Super Sports and now Pilot Sport 4S) because I like some sidewall and the 30 rubber is just so thin around the wheel but have recently been thinking it looks a little too bulky compared to the standard 225/40 fronts.

also considering going 235/40 upfront.

I hate to go down in width but even if I went 295/30 the sidewall is smaller than stock 265/35. My thinking is 275 is still pretty wide and at least it shrinks diameter a little...

would love to see some tire setups.

I have ran 295-30's on 10 inch wide RH's and I thought they looked fine with regard to the sidewall, which was more or less perpendicular to the tread.
I now have 10-3/4 inch wide rears so the sidewall is a little more stretched out. I can't go to 305's as the sidewall will rub the trailing arm.
I run 235-40's up front but I had to roll my fender lips and use 6 mm spacers to eliminate contact.

Cool, Paul. Would love to see a couple good pics of the 235s up front.

And rears if still running 295s

hope all is well in Michigan.

Brandon,
Everything's good here (too hot though).
Here's a couple of shots from 2011. I've been running 295's from nearly the beginning of my ownership.
My car came with 265's which gave it a stretched out ricer look.
Went to 285's for a short time until I saw Sonny's (old board member) car with 295's. Then I made the switch.

Most tires that get installed on my restored Speedline sets are 225/40 fronts and 295/30 rears. It also means the tire height is closer to the 25.1" original height, I also like the fact there is a little extra bulge on the tire to help protect the rim should an encounter with a curb happen. jdorociak@gmail.com Jim

I think if you tucked yours in by lowering the car a bit, it might mask some of the bulk. Clearance might be an issue though.

Yeah I don’t want to go lower. I think -think- I’m at RS +5mm. But not sure. Not going lower tho.

Have brand new - well they were brand new now they have 2000 miles - Pilot Sport 4S tires. 225/40/18 up front and 285/35 in back.

Current dilemma is should I go 225/40 F 275/35 R or 235/40 F 285/35 R. Should match a little better. Should have thought more about this BEFORE buying the tires. Lol. Can’t get the 4S in 295/30. The bigger tires should be a smidge more compliant - and I like some sidewall. But that combo is also about $200 more. Of course.

maybe I’ll just wear the 285s out then try 275s. But who wants to go narrower!?! I don’t know.

My car is at RS height.
In my experience, RS is as low as you should go.
Much below that and the ride quality has all the feel of a kart in that there's very little suspension travel.

Currently running 275-35 Michelin SS. To get 4S have to go to 285-35. 275 don’t fill the wheel well enough for me. 18x10.5 ET 54

Thanks C2...

I wonder if that extra 1/2 rim width makes the tire look smaller - a little stretch - compared to a 10” Speedine? FYI TireRack shows PS4S in 275/35. I also think my car sits a little lower.

any chance you could post a side view shot??

thanks!
