Rear trailing arms for my turbo that looks ridiculous right now
Hi everyone,
I'm still working VERY slowly on getting back my 964 Turbo from race car to streetcar
The motor is finally back, with an OEM clutch too and OEM exaust
I gutted the interior and start removing all the wires added for race (low fuel alert, kill switch for fuel pump, electronic for the radio...)
Sadly now the car is not running well and I'm afraid that I cut the wrong wire. Anyway that's not the topic of today thread
The car had huge spacers with 100mm wheel studs at the back so I decided to install stock studs
The idea was to install my 3.6 rims
Look at the result...
It looks like that the rear trailing arms were changed for narrow-body one. I guess because it allows wider tires?
In any case, instead of ordering new 100mm studs, I decided to find turbo rear traling arms
I gound and buy a set on ebay last week
https://www.ebay.com/itm/PORSCHE-TUR...72.m2749.l2649
But now, when I look at the part number on the arms, 965.331.514.6R, 965.331.514.06 AND 965.331.513.6R,96533151306.
And cannot find this reference in my 964 PET or even anywhere when I google them
The last digits are totally unknown
What did I buy??????
Tx

Porsche suppliers have been known to put the wrong part number on components from time to time.
I'll have a look at mine tomorrow (car is in winter storage and I'm visiting it) and try to verify if I have the same wrong part number on my car too.
If you kept the rear suspension as-is you could run some really wide wheels and tires, not unlike the uber-rare Carrera RSR 3.8.....

In all honesty the car is far better with the narrow body trailing arms. Your speedlines no longer have the etching so I am assuming they have been refinished. Maybe you should consider having them rebuilt to RSR specs. I prefer them myself.

Hum that's not a bad idea @Cobalt
You have spacers on top of having RSR spec rims?
@Metal Guru, Tx for the info about parts number that don't match PET catalog!

No spacers just the 18 x 11ET 5 rears I could make them 12's and still have room but it would need to be on the inside.

Thanks everyone for all the answers
I need to investigate now if it's better to convert my rear 3.6 Turbo rims to RSR spec or buy a set of clones (front and rear) and convert the rear

xilly,
I think that's my old racecar later owned by 38D. If so those are narrow 964 control arms I put them on so
I could run 11" rear wheels. If I remember correctly (it's been a while) I got the idea from the Brumos 964 T that ran so successfully
in IMSA
I loved that car. I have a very vivid memory of being on the banking of Daytona with the motor pulling like a runaway freight train
Fuel consumption calc was easy 1 gallon per lap!
Good Times

I recall his turbo. I wish I purchased Charlie's 3.6T (aka Tubo) that he raced at the same time. Despite the damage it was a bargain in today's dollars.
You converted the interior from tan to black as I recall and he drove the stink out of it. Nice project Xilly you have your hands full.
You can squeeze 12's in the rear if you choose to. Although an 11 ET 5 will do just fine.

Specifically, I have been told that the motor was enlarged to 3.4 liters but I don't have more info there were more modifications like the cams?
Right now the car is running but VERY rich
Turbo looks stock
I think there is a dyno graph somewhere that shows 360-380HP
Any help will be very appreciated :-)
Also, do you know why on the main harness, passage side, there is 2 or 3 wires that have been modified?
The same question for the immobilizer, lot of wires has been modified but I think it's to disable the immobilizer?
I decided to order RSR "spec" rims at the end of the day and it looks great
-> 18x9.0 et52 and 18x11 et5

Looks a lot nicer than the last time I saw it.
The wheels look great what offset did you end up with? I prefer the widebody with the narrow rear arms over any other combination. Although it looks like you used the inboard front settings and the car handles much better using the outboard turbo settings up front.
What year is the 928?

@cobalt
The 928 is 1985S with 60,xxx miles but it need some love. Running rough right now
I didn't do anything on the front so I'm not even sure of the setup
I ordered the rims from GMP Performance.
They are RH wheels
18x9.0 5x130 ET52 P (3.6) 3pce. silver/polished
18x11 5x130 ET 04 P (3.6) 3pce. sil/pol.
