Default Sport Seat Reupholstery – Autos International or Autobahn Interiors

I am looking to have a pair of late-80's / early-90's sport seats reupholstered in either partial or full leather, still undecided.

By good recommendation, I was leaning towards Autos International. However, I understand Autobahn Interiors is former Autos International upholsterers. Both shops look to do stellar work, but neither seem to have many examples of their work on late model cars. They both seems to specialize in 356 and early 911’s.

Does anyone have experience with either of these shops, ideally with late model sport seats? Advice, recommendations, and photos are welcome!

I used Autos International for my sport seat covers (had them installed in Michigan).
We did find a flaw in the covers but AI stood behind their work, paying for shipping to and from their shop and turning the repair around in two days.
I was pleased with the outcome.

AI only for me. he also makes the best headliners. However like all aftermarket suppliers some of the welting on the carpeting was incorrect. But he will fix it if you aren't happy.

welting. I learned a new word today

@cobalt I’m going to order a carpet set from them for next winter’s project. Anything I should request ahead of time to get correct welting ?

By AI, do you mean Autos International or Autobahn Interiors (I assume Autos International)?

Great insight on the headliner! I have an sunroof delete headliner I also need done.

Sounds like Autos International is still doing great work. Most everyone has recommended them. Did you have sport seats done, any photos you could share?

We've had several sets of seats done by Autobahn Interiors over the last couple of years. However, this is not a knock-on Autos International as I've used them in the past as well. Personally, I don't think you'll be disappointed with either as they've both been around for years, doing excellent work!

Sorry for the picture quality - And yes, I know this isn't a 964/nor are they sport seats. However, it's the last set we had done by Autobahn which included upper and lower dash, door panels, rear panels and carpets.

@onboost - you're making my decision harder now! I thought I had made up my mind. Sport seats or not, still a good example. Neither shop has many photos of late model seats, so thanks for the example

I ordered my 964 covers from autobahn interiors after extensive research. Tony was a huge help as i am in the Boston area. He answered my many text with questions. Leather quality is great. Can see how much work goes into making these covers. I was never going to get the covers on 100% wrinkle free near head rest/shoulder area as he would have as it was my first time. I’m not looking to win a concours event. There was no long wait like the big suppliers to receive the covers and mine were a rare Rasperry grey full leather. They were $ 1800. Definitely call Tony at Autobahn. Better yet if in SoCal drive down and leave the car.

If only you had posted this 20 days earlier,... it would have been exactly a one year anniversary from the prior last post on this thread

I recovered these myself during covid. Jack From GAHH helped me out. Unfortunately he passed away. i also think the company was sold. Not sure if they are keeping up with this quality of work.
I have some sport seats on Order so these will hit the market. Comfort seats are slow to sell but these are a must for anyone with crusty seats and low miles.
This is their upgraded "german" Full Leather. It was a B**** to recover. They'll tighten up over the years.
