Speedline Etch Template
I've been practicing my refurbishment skills on a spare, non speedline, three piece wheel set and i got to thinking.
Given the great engineering skills demonstrated on the board i wondered if it was possible to make a template of the "Speedline for Porsche" and the offset markings to enable re-etching of the rims after refurbishment using acid or blasting with sand or another abrasive substance.
If anyone knows how to do this or could come up with somenthing i'd be very interested, even splitting costs, as the only other way to maintain the originality seems to be new outer rims from FVD or some kind of sticker which doesn't seem right.

Get someone with a vynil cutter (signmaker) to make you a section with the "Speedline for Porsche" cut into it. Stick it on the wheel in the appropriate place, remove the letters and then either acid etch or glass bead blast the exposed letter shapes in the polished alloy. You can then re-polish the rest and laquer over the rim or annodise as appropriate.

About how much would this cost?

Of course it would take experimentation but with the correct pressure settings and proper medium it could be done. Vinyl will hold up to the amount of blasting needed to get the job done but it would be a one stencil per wheel deal.

That is exactly what i was thinking about - great work!!.
Any chance you'd be willing to sell some of the templates and a diy instruction sheet. I don't mind paying for someone to have invested the time and effort into something like this.
Normally I'd gladly ship the rims but I don't want to take them apart and their just too heavy to go as is across the pond - in ££ it would probably be cheaper to buy new outer rims.

Ryan funny you should mention that as I have just seen samples of anodized parts then clear coated with TSC that added depth and shine to the anodized parts. There are many possibilities if someone is will to explore and experiment. Jim

I am finishing a pair of 8 x 18 Speedline Alesio wheels this weekend, but wanted to show another tease of the results.
Thank you all for allowing me to share my excitement.

Jim,
It really does look very nice.
I hate to do this but your valve stem is not located properly should be dead center of the spokes.
