A/C Condenser Question
I'd like to get the A/C working again in my 1990 944 S2. The condenser P/N listed in the PET, 944 573 011 05 is the same for the 944 and the 968... but I know the later 968s came with R134a refrigerant, which is less efficient and normally requires a higher efficiency condenser. So, does anyone know if this latest rev of the condenser is a parallel flow type or plate-fin instead of tube-fin? I'm trying to decide if I should get a new Porsche condenser or the Kuehl sold by Griffiths since they are about the same price.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I used the Kuehl parallel flow condenser from Griffith’s on my 951 with R134a and it worked well. Make sure to seal all orings with Nylog and pull a good vacuum on the system. Your website is meticulous, so I’m sure your work is as well.

I think that the parallel flow condenser is likely better than factory, but probably won't make that much of a difference. I converted my 92 to 134a and it works fine with the factory unit. I do think that the barrier hoses by Griffiths are likely more important to keep the refrigerant in the system.

Don't know the answer to your question, but I used the Griffiths version when I converted to R134a (and their compressor) and the system pumps out more cool air than you are ever likely to need in the Seattle area.

No thread hack intended but just letting folks who read about AC I have a factory compressor and condenser from a 1994 968 removed during race conversion if anyone is looking.
Thanks
