Hi all,

Managed to successfully get a working stereo system set up this weekend (ran new wiring, installed Polk components in the front doors, and added an Alpine amp and Blaupunkt Bremen SQR. Sounds great so far, and about to add a sub to finish it off.

During the install, I discovered a couple of places where the black cloth tape (that's the best way I can think of to describe it) has split at the seams... has anyone found a good replacement source for that stuff or something similar? Or have any repair tips to get this resealed and looking good again (even any particular glue you'd recommend for this application)? I appreciate it!

I have a couple with the same trouble, figured I would carry up to the local upholstery shop and this would be easy work for them. I cant operate a sewing machine so near impossible for me. Could not cost much and sure they have something like this in stock.

Thank you both! I don’t really see stitching in there, so I’m going to try to resolve it myself with upholstery tape or glue and this webbing—it looks like a great match; I ordered one of each width and will report back!

On the 928, many people use the red-can Weldwood contact cement to glue the carpets back onto the door cards. Maybe you could use it for this, as well. The green can, from what I've read, is to be avoided.

Late to this thread. You should be able to find tape used to wrap hockey sticks (not the 968 coupe parts) at your local sporting goods store. Sure looks the same to me,

I am not sure if you can source this tape where you are, but Tesa fleece tape is a 100% match for the factory tape.

I went to JoAnn's fabrics if you are here in the states, has a perfect match. Let me find mine I did in a different thread. If you are talking the carpet piece, its not tape, its a ribbon fabric strap of some sort, that is sewn to the carpet, then the U shaped piping clamps it around the body to hold he carpet in place.

Ok, this is what it looks like with the JoAnn's material, I think it was in the ribbon section, just remember I brought the old stuff and dimensions and showed it to a lady there.
