Default 968 Club Sport wanted

After seeing mine, a good friend has expressed interest in an all-original low mile Club Sport. Must be left hand drive, sport seats, original paint and low-ish miles. White, Blue, Green, receive extra credit!!! Optioned as close to original Club Sport spec as possible. Yes, he knows this is a bit of a unicorn and will likely come at a cost....and a wait. Willing to consider reasonable cars at market price though. Let the comments.....and waiting.....begin.

If your friend likes yellow and has sufficiently deep pockets, there's this one - pretty strong money for a 968 but all it takes is one buyer, and it does look like a wonderful car.

At the other end of the CS spectrum there was the red one discussed in the 'for sale' thread, but the PCA Mart is no longer active so maybe it's been sold. Asking price was $70k I believe but miles and condition (and colour!) were probably not what your friend is looking for.

You mention originality is important, but it would be remiss not to point out that you could have a pretty fantastic CS tribute / replica built for the kind of $$$ the dealership in PA is looking for. Otherwise I'd search in Europe - I talked with this guy when I was looking for a European camper and, while the vehicle I was looking at didn't work out, he struck me as a reliable guy to deal with.

I'm thinking you meant the hardbacks? Sport seats were only available on the high-end trim 968s.

Incredibly, that yellow CS does NOT have M030 suspension, even though it has every other desirable CS option including sunroof delete. For $125K they are trying to set a new price record.

Yeah that does look like a nice car but, IMHO, 25% over market right now. Pockets aren't so deep that paying way over market is ok. And, yes, originality is the focus so will wait to find the right one I suspect. Thx

Agree....and someone may pay that. Not here though. Even with M030 it's a $100k car in. my view.

The 968 'comfort' seats looked like this:

More and better pictures here - shows the rear seats that came with the comfort package, too, along with electric windows and air conditioning.

To my uneducated eye the 968 comfort seats look not unlike the 964 RS America seats, although the RSA seats were powered and look to have even bigger side bolsters.

Nope, you had either the standard comfort seat (cloth, no power adjustments, code 381/382) or the hardbacks (code 384/385) on the CS.

If you like the sport seats (and who wouldn't?, code 383/387) a much better option would be 1 of the 99 North American M030s. 41 of those came with sport seats.

Really interesting Jeff. Any idea the reasoning for not offering the sport seats as an option on the CS? Weight?

A Dealer has one on Ebay right now. Speed Yellow. Doesn't look too bad although a couple of funky looking pics to me. Suspect a repaint too. Need more pics.

That's what I would think. The CS was a cheap, lightweight 968. Sports seats are heavier and more comfortable. Goes against the idea of the CS.

As for PS815259, it has 220 LSD, no sunroof, hardbacks, and a great color.
However, no M030. And it has AC which some are okay with and others are not. And an $85k price tag.

The RS America seats are sport seats, but the similar appearance is the fabric. The 968 CS comfort seats were the only other adjustable backrest seats Porsche officially offered in the Perlon (or similar) cloth in that era. (One could of course order that cloth on any car through Exclusive). Adjustable backrest seats in that cloth would not officially return until the 997 era.

From '85-'98, the only adjustable backrest seats that were available without any electric adjustment were the comfort/non-sport seats and therefore were the lightest adjustable-backrest seats available. The semi-sport seats available on the 928 Clubsport are a small exception.

Not to Hijack, but my 1994 coupe has the earlier style seats, 964 I believe. The Driver's side is all electric, 3 pods. The passenger side seat has 2 pods and a lever on/under the right side to slide back and forth. However, the passenger side seat does not have a lever on/under the left side to adjust the back angle. There is also no visage place where than handle may of attached to if it broke off.
Anybody understand why?

TIA,

-Yogii
