Default I'm Back

Sold my cobalt blue/ gray Cayman S manual 3.6 a few weeks ago. Was going through withdrawal so I bought an arena red/cashmere 99 Boxster manual with some needs and 77k miles. That was supposed to keep me out of the bars for a while. Then I saw this on Facebook. Folks were crapping on the car without communicating with the seller. I saw the dash, the driver seat bolster, and the little piece of black on the nose piece. My wife doesn't want to drive a manual, so I figured why not try a tip. Jeff says it has 8 way heated seats on both sides. I do miss my S2, and have to change my signature. I will after it is delivered.

Jealous that you have a cigarette lighter with intact graphics! Very rare, those are.

Lol. I thought someone had taken mine out of my car in the parking lot. I came out one afternoon and my cover had been moved off the passenger door and the lighter was missing. @jsheiry came through for me but then I found mine under my seat when I was strapping Milo’s sheepskin pad down. I guess the wind somehow blew my cover over and knocked it out of the dash.

Nice score Tom. I too had my gloves/rag still in their plastic. Unfortunately, I broke my box cover by slamming my hood on it. Have you figured out what’s going on with the “cyclops” action yet. Every once in a while, my light motors freak out and won’t retract. So far, it’s fixed itself over night every time.

Haven't gotten it yet. Should be here next week. Cyclops is my smallest worry. I got belts, fuel lines, and the transmission to fix first. I'm like a kid at xmas time. Is it here yet, it it here yet?!

Nice, welcome back.

I have a cyclops as well. Mine is the other side. Whenever I hit the slightest bump, or are going down hill, they close by gravity.
I assumed they they all were supposed to fall by gravity but mine was misaligned. I do have a small crack to the topside surround of the bucket. I assumed that this was what was causing the light not to fall....

PS I guess this is what happens when you assume?

Try lubing the hinges and the ramp.

Now that it is at its new home, the fun will begin. The car is unmolested, and a time capsule. My wife looked it over and said it is a barn find. Either the interior smells better than my 89 S2 did when i got it in 2000 or my nose is failing after 23 years of use.

Tom, what is wrong with the dash? Looks fine to me, although maybe a little discolored? (Can’t really tell on my iPad) And what is it that makes it “Uber rare” the 8-way heated seats?

I lived 60 years of my life without heated seats in perfect bliss. Until a bought a car that had them. No I’m spoiled, and 8 see any car without as lacking!

Nothing wrong with the dash. It is the most perfect dash of any of the six and a half 944s I've owned over the last 23 years. Better than the 89 S2 I bought in 00. The heated seats are whats rare. The red sure as shyt isnt rare, they are "UberRare". Only thing I dont like about the car is the missing pedal. But my wife doesnt want to drive a manual anymore so maybe this will get her to go on some drives the ladies put on.

Didnt you get the memo. Any 924/944/968 that left the factory guards or india red is now UberRareRed because there are so few of them?

My first post in thread
I saw the dash, the driver seat bolster, and the little piece of black on the nose piece.
I saw those pictures and decided to buy the car sight unseen.
The dash has no cracks
The driver seat bolster is in great shape
The little piece of black on the nose piece is almost always painted over when there is front end bodywork. It leaves the factory black on all 944s and 968s. Not sure about 924s.
