Default Front plate

While there are many great Porsche plates available, I wanted something 968 specific. I made this one by purchasing a blank black plate and a new rear 968 emblem.

By the way, the rear emblem is setup super easy to align from Porsche. The emblem is affixed to a backing card and is covered by a front clear sticky panel. Simply remove the backing card, the front clear panel holds the numbers of the emblem in position, and place the emblem by aligning it through the clear front panel.

Looks nice! In a state that did not require a plate I would remove the tag bracket all-together. I think seeing the lines of the front of the car so much nicer. Sure you have a couple holes to do something about but I think the bumper plugs website would have you covered.

Well Cali does require a front plate. I do not have one, well I do, it is on the passenger side rear footwell.
The thought of the screw holes in my plastic bumper really vexed me.
If I needed a front plate, I would go with a Rennlist type of screw in to the tow hook, plate hanger...

Thanks! I debated just removing the mounting hardware and plate as you state, but thought I'd try making this plate and using it for awhile

One time a 10” clevis pin fell off an empty heavy equipment trailer that passed me like I was standing still (pretty sure I was doing at least 80. Probably 90-95) and bounced before embedding itself into my front clip.*I thought I’d just hit it until I stopped for gas and pulled it out.

The law in Utah was that it was only required if “there’s was originally a provision for it,” so when they replaced the front clip I told the body shop not to drill the holes for the bracket. Driven it in Nevada, New York, and here and never had a problem. I only parked it on the street in nyc for a couples of hours, twice, so that helped. NYPD loves that kind of stuff.

I just think the front end of almost all cars look better without a license plate.

* I was some time later that I realized how lucky I was. Had it bounced a foot higher it would have hit the windshield and possibly broken through it and hit me.

That looks really good, and indeed it could have been much worse!

The ventilation grille (944 505 121 00) on my 92 was broken really bad and I used similar material to replace it. Fortunately the ventilation grille on this 93 is not broken at all. I like how your trim cover (944 505 010 00) also matches the ventilation grille with the same material.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when I had a good look around the fender front end and the air flow through that area, the airbox and filter are fed only through that front slot/opening. The underneath grille or splitter area is sealed/separated from the top air inlet. What I did do is remove the little plastic front grille which 'derestricted' further the opening. My CS/S also has the airbox mod of drilled holes and no feed trunk reducing further any airflow restriction. Wondering what the track day or time-attack guys do for air induction arrangements.

I got those from a guy on the 968 forum that made them and SS door sill covers.

I like how the silver accentuates the openings. My airbox is opened, drilled, and de-snorkeled as well. I did it when I installed the chip.

Colin, some of us drive our cars more than once every two years and I have not wanted to give the authorities one more box to check as I have not been accused of being a rule follower by my insurance company....but your point is well taken.

I thought Virginia was one of the states that DID NOT require a front plate?
When I lived in Maryland, I remember NOT seeing Va cars with front plates, lots of vanity plates too....
