I live in Maine and drove my 944's, and drive my 968 in the snow. I was encouraged by the body galvanizing and all the Porsche photos of their cars up in the arctic circle with icicles hanging off them.

However, road de-icers have changed. My mechanics tell me that ALL cars up here are seeing greatly-reduced lifespans because of the rapid corrosion these supersalts bring about. He told me this when I pointed out all the corrosion I was seeing on brake lines and other underbody components on my car.

I can't afford a 2nd, winter car right now, so I went to a Zeibart shop and had them shoot just the underside of my 968*. Got my fingers crossed, and curse the extra weight.

Follow that image back to its source and you'll find larger wallpaper versions as well.

Have had them on since mid october. In our current storm, I am wishing they were studded, and may go pick up a set of chains to keep on hand. The temps are too cold for this tire to work right.

Put on the extra rims with the Blizzaks in mid-October. No room in the garage for any namby-pamby nice-weather cars (however there's 3 motorbikes stuffed against the back wall until spring-time arrives).

I've had 'em for 1,5 months now, and hate 'em... because steering feels so loose thanks to soft side walls.
winter has been so mild that there was only one week with more slippery roads, othervise just wet roads. In Finland you have to use winter tires (studded or "friction") from Dec to end of Feb.

One club member got his Gt3RS out few days ago.. guess he has winter tires for that aswell. ,)
