Well, almost. The front ones have vented notches for better turbofluid gesticulation. The rear ones don't have those notches.

That's a joke, right? Because I use the exact same pads front and back...

And I'm only showing one application for both but I wanted to double check.
Thanks

I just bought pads, and yes, if the big online dealers are right, they're the same.

Are the CALIPERS the same??? I've lost track.

No, the calipers are not the same. Even though they look identical, the area where the pads fit is much narrower on the rear calipers. This is because the rear rotors are not as wide as the fronts. I think fronts are 28mm and rears are 24mm wide.
Also, the pistons sizes in the rear are different. This is to adjust the brake bias/proportions between front and back. Front pistons are biggers than the rears.
Regards.

jeff,

did you measure your front rotors ? how much wear did they have ?

did they end up needing to be out of there ?

Raj,

are big reds, big blacks REAR calipers the same as our FRONT 968 calipers.....

i may wish to eventually get another set of 968 baby black front calipers to put on the back of my car

or just buy rear big reds or big blacks, eventually.

no reason to do this any time soon though..... as i still have a long way to go on my rear rotors, and my braking power is already, amazing. just curious.

I've never had the slightest complaint with braking ability...the tires, not the rotors/calipers, have ALWAYS been the limiting factor, even with slicks...so if you're happy with your braking power too, why go to bigger, heavier calipers?

the good braking power stems from taking Eric Krause's (EKR Racing) advice and just going with the 928 GTS Big Blacks in the front and staying stock in the rear and balancing w/ the bias valve.

If you are going with the big reds/blacks on the front only.... swap the stock front onto the rear. This will increase the rear braking power and help with balancing out the larger fronts.

+1

The stock brakes are really quite good. I do not recommend upgrading these unless you are actively racing the car. The M030 fronts add unsprung weight (rotor and caliper). If you don't need the added braking for your 60 and 90-minute enduros, I say save your time and money.

The difference in fr/rr stock calipers is the size of the pistons used in the rotation sequence. It is only relevant if you are changing a caliper or rebuilding them (size of rings/dust boots, etc. needed).

thanks, agreed, but running big front wheels and tires seems to be helping to spring the extra weight of the big brakes...

car feels like it's glued to the road... when these rotors in the rear finally die) maybe 60 k miles of life are left on them) i'll get the bigger calipers and rotors. the calipers and rotors that came off my car were recently sold.

Quick Reply: Are 968 brake pads the same for front and rear?
