Post 968 DME info!

Hello
I made a little research to the 968 DME and I found out that the PET do NOT have the right info's
it seems that there are 2 different DME for the 968

all chips are
M27C512-15B1

Info on computer:

0 261 203 070

944.618.123.02

TYP 968 MW-02

but there is also a DME with the same 0 261 203 070 but it has the 944.618.123.01 instead the
944.618.123.02!!!

this should be for the early cars. the Bosch number is teh same but the Porsche Part number is different.
So It must be the same DME but with a different Porsche chip.

there is also another DME with the Bosch Nr. 0261 200 070. This one do not listed in the Porsche PET CD and not in the bosch data at http://app5.bosch.de/cgi-bin/WebObjects.dll/BoschVer.woa/2/wo/yw6000Cz400nI300r9/6.2

anybody who can clarify this or has more info's?
FR Wilk maybe?
there were some other guys here who could reprogram the DME. Maybe they know what is going on with the different DMEs in the 968

Thanks

Konstantin

Bringing this back from the dead,

I assume since I have a 93, I can only use the last model? The .02?

Model | Production control unit | Introduction date | Remarks

944.618.123.01 approx. September, '91

944.618.123.02 December, '91 944.618.123.02

Can you check the part number on your existing ECU for reference?

see if these guys know what changes where made...

http://www.systemsc.com/index.html

I would assume updates where employed to get ready for the obdII mandate in 96. the .00 and .01 cars haven't gone up in a ball of flames, so I would bet you can use the earlier version.

I just replaced the bose amp in a 96 to the 95 version because it was better))

Question

I am actually just getting ready to list one of these. The numbering I have is 944.618.123.01 TYP 968 M2-02.

When you say .01/early .02/late do you mean the Porsche part number, or do you mean the "TYP" number?

When you look on the sticker, the last number of the part No. is .01 or .02.

Thanks!
