Default PSA for ATF Reservoir

My 968 developed a steady leak from the trans a few days ago. When I took a look underneath, the ATF reservoir was completely filled. When I loosened the fill cap, trans fluid erupted out like a geyser. My theory is that the fluid has expanded due to the warm weather we've had over the last week or so. I bought the car in February, so the weather was much cooler then. So, check you fluid level. There are level markers on the side for a reason!.

Keep a close eye on that, not sure what it could be off the bat but it could be more than over filled.

(plugged cooler or line maybe?)

+1, you have something other than fluid expansion going on. Out of curiosity, did someone try "topping it off" without warming the tranny up first? If not, I would suggest you start with a fluid/filter change immediately and hope that cures it.

I have owned my 968 with tip for over ten years and never experienced anything like that.

I have not driven the car since mid-march. The flywheel damper has gone to shreds, so I'm planning spring maintenance. Other than warming it up on the weekends, nothing has changed with the car since I bought it on 2/15. I used a siphon and managed to pull out enough fluid to fill 1/3 of a 2 liter soda bottle. It's still overfilled. I need to drop the trans for the damper replacement so I'll take a good look then. There is also a small gasket leak somewhere that needs to be looked at. Hopefully it's nothing serious...

It will be overfull when not running. Got to be running, warmed up, and in drive. Not sure why it would run out onto floor other than the cap was loose, missing cap gasket, or something else let loose.

Thanks, I didn't know that.

This happens to my car. When left unused for over a week, some trans fluid
will overflow from the reservoir. The only thing I did was to tighten the hose connector to the radiator when I found fluid in the front.
Kind of strange but I tighten it and fill according to instructions....
