Well everything up top looks good. Check valve is clear and nothing clogged. I don't think I'm getting oil pressure at all so I will look at relief valve tomorrow

Remove oil filter, use long funnel and fill up center threaded hole and upper and lower cavity ports with oil till there up to the top and it doesn't run back down fast. Put filter on and start car for a second or two. Repeat a few times if you don't get pressure than you have a major problem with, pump priming

I will give it a shot, I finally cleared a spot in my shop and pulled it in tonight, I was going to look a top OPRV also.

Have you checked the torque on the main crank pulley. If it is loose, you will not get any oil pressure. It should be torqued to 155lbs/ft. This would be an easy thing to check and very critical.

I haven't done much of anything yet other than pull the valve cover but will add that to my list today. Thanks!

Ok so I had a chance to look at it, I pulled valve cover, everything looked pretty dry but in good shape, so I put it back on temporarily not paying too much attention to how good the gasket went on, I changed the OPRV with another, it looked fine tho. I put some oil in the filter housing. I cranked it with dme out and wasn't building pressure. Here's what's odd tho, I did fire it up bc it wasn't cranking very fast so I didn't want that to give me a false oil pressure reading. Now, before I put the valve cover on, I put a little oil on the cams. After letting it run for about 5 seconds I shut it down bc the gauge still red no oil pressure but when I removed the plugs I now have oil down there that leaked from the vcg. The top end was much quieter but I assumed it was bc I oiled the cams. But how would I get leaking in the spark plugs with no pressure?

You must check the main crank bolt ASAP!

I know nothing about the oil pump on the 968....how does the crank bolt tightness affect the oil pressure? Just curious.....thanks!

I'm curious about this concern too. The main crank bolt holds the cam pulley, accessory belt pulley and power steering pump pulley in place, but doesn't do anything that affects the oil pump.

I would assume it' would be an indirect issue if it's loose causing unnecessary vibration which would narrow down potential causes of no oil pressure

The crank bolt tightens the crank pulley against the oil pump drive sleeve. The drive sleeve is not keyed to the crankshaft, it relies on being clamped by the pulley against the crankshaft flange. A loose crank pulley could mean the drive sleeve will slip on the crankshaft.
