Newer Porsche Radios in 968?
Hi Guys,
Do any of you know if the newer CDR22 or 23 radios will work well in the 968? I've been thinking about getting rid of the Kenwood I have and replacing it with one of those.
Thanks.

I have the Porsche Traffic Pro installed in my car which is essentially a CDR radio but with navigation also. I love the looks, and it is really a kick *** radio. It has so many features I'm surprised. I retrofitted an ebay kit and have Bluetooth, iPod input and aux input.
Here's the thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...o-install.html
I thought I had pictures of the amp installed....but maybe that was on the "other forum" which I no longer visit.

I have the CDR in my 968 and love it, altho I still need to get the different front plate that changes the angle of the display.

I have a CDR 220 in my 951 and a CR 220 in the 968. Both have aftermarket iPod adapters and I'm very happy with them. Not sure why, but they sound much better than the newer stereos we replaced them with. Only word of caution, the viewing angles of the LCDs for both radios are designed to be looked at from above like in the 986/996 cars and thus it can be difficult to see the screen in direct sunlight.

Sorry I was in the garage without power but you can just make out the newer CD player. I also have used Nakamichi players with success.

OEM always looks better and with a little help from Alpine amps and Focal speakers and sub, you don't have to sacrifice originality!

Thanks for the information, Paul. That is very encouraging. I noticed in eBay that prices for the radios has come down fairly dramatically over the last few years.

Not a 968 in this pic, but I threw an old one of these in the car:
Has the standard blaupunkt becker harness.
In fact any radio with that harness can easily do bluetooth, ipod and hands free with a mic.
I just have ipod and bluetooth streaming now. I imagine these headunits if you can find them are cheap.
Factoryish looking, and the oval matches our clusters too.

These modules will work on the CDR-220 and this unit (Most Becker / Blaupunkt, check pinouts to be sure) since it uses CD Changer power and inputs with dedicated tel output sense too.

Or just for audio:

I just have a 30pin ipod adapter and one of these:

I know you are looking for porsche oem, but for that money you can get a lot of extra bits
All the newer radios have too many fancy color displays and crap. Finding a black utilitarian looking deck is hard and what I prefer, and original reason I picked the blaupunkt was for it to look stock.

I agree about the newer radios. They just don't look right in a Porsche of any age. I have a Kenwood that is basically black, which looks OK. It also has voice calling, but it doesn't receive local stations very well, especially on AM.
