Windshield cracked!

Hmm, the dealer didn't mention anything about a difference for cars with/without airbags. They told me that both 944 and 968 use the same part number now. So one would presume there would be no difference for air bags? I will see if the dealer can confirm the Sekurit brand for the ones they sell.
BTW, don't most auto policies cover full glass replacement, in which case cost shouldn't be a major issue?

Maybe my advice is more for someone who is looking for a used one. If it's a used windshield that is coming from a no airbag car like 1985,5 and up 944 for example, then I am not sure if it's legal for our 968. Just my 2cents.

Yes, if you have comprehensive coverage your policy covers glass with no limit but subject to whatever deductible you have agreed to.

Sorry but didn't answer the entire question.….. I thought the issue here was the drama of diminishing resources of windshields. The additional issue of cost should only apply if you do not have comprehensive insurance. Just for reference sake. I am a licensed insurance broker in Ca. Policies are standard in most States with very little variation. Among my specialties is/was anything having to do with Porsche. In the Bay Area I enjoyed as clients many of the dealers, tune up shops, body shops, restoration shops, salvage operations and individuals. Just for the record this is not a commercial it is simply a reason why, if you choose to, you may trust my word on the subject. I am mostly retired but still consult and advise many of these clients.

Right, that was my point with my comment about having insurance. You pay the same deductible for whatever windshield goes in, so the focus should be finding the right windshield rather than the least expensive supplier. Unless, of course, it has to be done outside of insurance coverage.
My local dealer didn't think there's an issue right now, there are 6 in the CA warehouse. But, they appear to be combo 944/968 windshields so there would be antenna wires. That's going to make it hard to find authentic windshields. Are there any out there?

What happened to the previous thread? I was somewhat reassured that Porsche was providing WS to the dealers. I had several years ago owned 6 968's and in need of a WS in a hurry determined that there were none. That is, only a handful existed on these shores and a few more in Europe. That was info received direct from PCNA where I had at the time a very strong relationship. On that alarm. I obtained and stored a spare for several years until my cars and , thus, paranoia subsided a bit. I thought the problem persisted but a previous thread convinced me all was now OK. Seems like it is not OK.

Posting to let interested parties know that the NOS coupe windshield in Vermont is available again:

Roger was a pleasure to deal with and I give him the highest recommendation.
Sadly my local Porsche repair specialist (I've been with him since 1986) went out of business yesterday. Too many deferred-maintentance issues with my car to deal with, so I'm going to try to find something else to drive.
Here's to Performance Plus (née Porsche Plus)!!!
Also: this fairly recent thread with info on the subject of 968 windshields:

I joined the list of owners needing a windshield today. Removing the original glass from the turbo S tribute did not go well, so I just ordered a new glass from retroautomotiveproducts as well.
We are going with a non sunroof top so removing the glass was a necessity.
Regards,
Raj

Another cracked windshield here.
What are we doing these days for replacements. My Canadian Pcar dealer says $1300 for the part only. Sheesh.
Safelight says $425 installed in their online quote. That can't be right either.
Anybody source one recently?
TIA

My new windshield, and I believe all of them, has the antenna imbedded in the windshield.
