Daily drivers?
Hi everyone,
I sold my 981CS and I'm already missing it. I'm trying to figure out what the best way to replace it is. One thing that struck me while driving the 981 daily is that it seemed like a waste in some ways, especially after I started autocrossing it. I quickly realized that even "spirited" driving on backroads didn't even stress the car slightly, and the only time I felt I was actually using the car was during autocross. With that said, I'm curious: what are you guys using for daily drivers? I'm thinking that my next car may be either a 987 Spyder (although I do have my name on the list for a 718 Spyder just in case) or an air-cooled 911, and I'm not sure what I should get as a reasonable daily car. I'm looking for something that doesn't draw too much attention to itself, but is still fun to drive and can fit my wife/a car seat if needed. My wife drives a Macan, so "heavier" transportation needs are taken care of.

My daily is a Volvo V60 although it's due for replacement soon. With the sport suspension it's pretty fun to drive and outfitted pretty nicely. I'll likely get another one.
If you don't need the space the Golf GTI would also be a great option, they are very fun to drive right out of the box!
Good luck with your Spyder or Air Cooled search, you can't go wrong with either.

Burning Brakes
I feel like I spend most of my time in a National Rental car.... But when I am home and just want to tool around and have fun, I take the Fiesta ST. Just bought it a couple of months ago. We also have a Macan, but my plan is to replace it in 2019. The ST is actually a ridiculously fun car to drive, despite being FWD. And it always makes getting in the GT4 that much more special and enjoyable.

'18 Toyota Tacoma. Not necessarily a "fun" vehicle, but does everything I need it to do and it's been a favorite of mine since I saw Marty McFly get one at the end of the original Back to the Future.
I've had a lot of different daily drivers over the years, but I just prefer a pickup truck. Keep coming back to one.

Cold, wet, or wintery weather and I take the B8.5 S4. With a smaller supercharger pulley and a tune it is a powerful and practical daily with immediate power delivery and buckets of torque along with the practicality of Quattro. Great car. Having said all of that when it isn’t cold, wet, or wintery, it is the cayman. Every time.

My 987.2 Cayman S is my daily driver. I bought it so I wouldn't daily my 997 GTS. I daily drove the 997 for 2 years, and it was awesome. I had a 128i M sport for about a year as a daily, loved that and miss it. I replaced it with a high mileage 2009 Cayman S this summer. Car had 90k miles on it when I bought it so I've no worries about depreciation, just a sweet car to drive to the office and other daily stuff.

Tundra now, but my DD was a Cayenne S for the past 5 years. Can't beat that combo with a Spyder - just started to get where I needed to be hauling stuff and needed a bed.

I have a 981 boxster as my daily driving and too feel the exact same thing you are talking about. The car is meant to be driven like a bad ***, but I don't ever drive that way or there is just too much traffic around.

Daily was a GMC Seirra (home improvement tool). Now it's a Jeep Grand Cherokee. My daily driver is generally capable of towing the Porsche should I ever decide to trailer it to and from a track day or autocross.
