Default 981 legroom: which seat type gives you the most?

I'm 6'3" with 34" inseam and looking at 981 Boxster S, possible Cayman. I love the 18-way adaptive seats (and have had them in other cars), but it feels like they may suck up more legroom (don't know this for a fact).

Is there a noticeably "better" option for the most legroom among the base seats, 14-ways and 18-ways?

Thanks for any input.

6'4 with similar inseam... 14-way don't give me ideal leg room, but dealing with it till I can afford a 911.

If it were about half an inch less leg room I don't think I could've used the car. I bruise/rub raw the right side of my knee on the console when autocrossing. Also the body position ends up not being ideal for racing due to how I have to rake the seat to both give enough leg room and fit my helmet in the roof line...

Here's a near identical older thread:

I believe bucket seats give the most leg room, if you really can't fit the 14/18 way seats. Maybe give that a try?

One good point for the OP - if concerned about possibly changing seats later... consider a black interior.

I got a pretty rare agate/pebble combo interior so have to give up a lot of aesthetics to change seats since you won't find anything on the used market and there may not even be factory order-able stuff (and if there is it will cost at least a liver).

I am also 6'3 with 34" inseam and I feel like I have a good amount of legroom with the 14-way seats. I even slide the seat forward a little so I can lean back the backrest some without any issues.

I'm about the same size and find the 14 way seats give plenty of room. Given the overall size of the car, was pleasantly surprised how roomy/comfortable it is after a few hours. Our '19 Corvette is much less comfortable, especially the passenger side legroom. Whoever designed that prison needs a punch in the throat...

Weird. I'm a pretty thin dude and don't have much of an ***.

I also have a manual FYI which could add to the cramped footwell.

Thanks for all of the info - very helpful!

Yes, it has to be a manual - so that may impact legroom or feeling of being crowded. I'm going to test out a manual with the 14-ways this weekend. Wish me luck!
Thanks again.

I'm 6'3" with 4-ways in my 981 - plenty of space for how I like to sit.

I don't own a Cayman, but i'm on the hunt and have driven several lately. I'm 6'4, 34" inseam pants, 218lbs. The good news is that i can fit well in a 981 and even clear a helmet. So far i've successfully tried the standard seats and the 14-ways. They seem to have pretty similar headroom, mayyyybe the 14-ways went a touch lower. But very similar. In both cases i put the seat all the way down and one notch from full back. Then i tilted the seatback back as far as it would go pressing into the back wall. Then adjusted the wheel to telescope all the way out and up. Quite comfy.

FWIW, i don't fit in 987s for crap.
