Default FVD Brombacher Sport Muffler for 981 Base?

I came into my 2014 981 Cayman Base from a 1997 993 Carrera (Normally aspirated) that had the LPMM (Leyland Pate Muffler Modification) done on the stock exhausts. The result was a nice rumble that didn't cause my neighbors to run into the street shaking their fists at me. The Cayman has been everything I wanted except that it doesn't have that nice 993 rumble.

I realize that it can't be duplicated exactly because the engines are significantly different, but I'd like to get close without getting into the obnoxious zone.

I've read many exhaust threads here and haven't seen much written about the FVD Brombacher Sport setup offered by Flat6 Motorsports ( https://flat6motorsports.com/collect...an-boxster-981 ). Do any "981ers" here have experience with this system in their 981?

I realize the Brombacher setup is more expensive most of the other popular setups but I like that it appears to be essentially plug 'n play and I wouldn't have to screw around with emissions issues.

Any input will be appreciated.

Terry

You can't go wrong with FVD as they make excellent products.

There are several excellent YouTube videos online:

For what it's worth, I just installed a Soul exhaust on my base, and the sound is absolutely great, with all the rumbles and typical Porsche notes you can expect. I had the Agency Power before, and it sounded nice but the Soul is a bit louder and on a different level quality-wise. Not an answer to your question of course, but also a cat-back without any emission issues. Porsche Cayman has the cat in the exhaust manifold and non in the exhaust path afterward. However, the FVD has great reviews and has certainly high quality build as well.

Glad that you are interested in our sport muffler for your 981 base. You can find more information on our site if you like.

Our exhaust products are manufactured in Germany by one of the manufacturers to the boys in Weissach. If you are looking for an air-cooled sound our exhaust in my opinion (I have owned a 987 Boxster and currently own a 964) may well be the closest to that in this market. Our 981 exhaust produces a lumpy, cam lope sound down low and at start up under secondary air injection. It then opens up to lower, deeper tones in the mid-range and and finally an exhibits a high pitch unmistakable flat6-esque (angry bees) rasp up top.

To address your concerns about pricing, we have been a forum sponsor for many years here on Rennlist. We always take care of forum members with a discount. Just send me a private message and I will respond with the latest online shop promo code.

Thanks

I had an FVD system on my base 981 a few years ago and loved it! It sounded absolutely amazing, almost GT3 like. Some 981 guys think the 2.7 sounds sweeter than the 3.4 even.

FVD on my 987 is great. It doesn't sound boy racer, just like a grumblier stock exhaust. I got the TUV version and am very happy with the fit, sound and finish.
