Default New member of the 981 family with questions

Hi folks-
Long time Porsche owner and I just purchased a 981 Spyder to replace our 986S. After driving the newer 718 GTS I missed the iconic flat six sound despite the engineers at Porsche trying to mimic the sound it was just not the same…

So I have 2 questions…what is the best battery maintainer to use in this car. Our old battery maintainer plugged into the cigarette lighter and I’m wondering if Porsche came up with a better option…Secondly, where is the best place to buy an indoor car cover..

Thanks!

Here is the obligatory picture!

Welcome to the club!!!
I love the 981 spyder. I am looking for one from time to time. You don’t have to tell us what you paid for yours but was it cheaper than the gt4 ?

this is the battery tender I use:

I have been using and you can't go wrong with the OEM Porsche Charger with it's plug and play no-brainer usability.

I use Delan Battery Tender because I can use it with all cars, motorcycles, ATV’s, etc.

I just bought the indoor cover from Suncoast. Came in a nice duffle bag which was surprising. Soft as anything, fit the 981 well.

Thanks guys. I forgot about Suncoast…
I’m picking up the car next week and will most certainly have other questions…

Congrats! The 981 Spyder is a fantastic car and one of the best sounding cars you can buy. The white with the classic red interior is a great spec.

I use the Porsche branded CTEK battery tender and the Porsche indoor cover for mine.

I would highly recommend the CTEK chargers as well. You are better off just getting CTEK rather than the Porsche branded one IMO, since the Porsche branded one has less features and is more expensive. I have
Amazon Amazon
. I also have a larger one as well, but don't really notice much of a difference between them.

I use the plug in the passenger foot well on the side of the center console. Don't forget, in order for the CTEK to work, you need to lock the doors.

Hmm, if that's true I haven't actually been tending my battery for the past 8 years!

Same here. I keep mine unlocked and mine works fine in the console.
