Spacers on Sport Technos with X73 Suspension
I feel like I've searched and searched with no definitive answer.
I love my Sport Techno wheels but want them a little more flush. I'm looking at running 5mm/7mm spacers front and rear and am wondering if anyone has done it?
What I've found so far is:
- Porsche does NOT recommend the 5mm spacers for the Sport Techno wheels in general (assuming this is just because they're already the widest and most aggressive offset stock wheels?)
- It appears one person has run 8mm/12mm spacers with them but the photo doesn't look like the car has X73 (https://rennlist.com/forums/981-foru...l#post17622385)
- Some people reported needing to bend the mounting tab inside the rear fender because it could rub on hard/full compression with X73 when running wide wheels/spacers
Photo of my car for fun:

Thanks for the response, it looks really clean. Do you think I could get away with keeping the stock alignment since I plan on running less aggressive fitment with the 5mm and 7mm?

Yeah, I'm torn. I just want them to be a little more flush. 5mm/7mm is conservative but 7mm/10mm might be the way to go if I don't need to alter my alignment and I won't have issues with rubbing.

What wheels did you have though? The Sport Technos are wider (and I believe have more aggressive offset) than any other stock wheel offered which is why I'm trying to pin down people who have done it.

I didn't know that. I had the stock Carrera S wheels. Not really sure on its specs.

So I did some more research and it appears that the 981 Spyder (X73 standard) comes with rear wheels that are 20x10.5 et47 which would mean the Sport Technos (20x10 et50) with a 10mm spacer on the rear are going to poke 1mm further out than the stock Spyder wheels. Seems like 1mm extra wouldn't cause problems in the rear. Now to decide about the fronts, 5mm or 7mm. Leaning towards 7mm.

19x10 +40 is super common for aftermarket wheels, and even those seem like they could use a bit of spacer.
Most aftermarket front wheels are +50 versus +57 stock. I usually run 3mm spacers on top of that and it still seems like it could use a bit more.
The only way you're really going to run into issues is if you do all that and then try to run super wide tires. With stock tire sizes you can probably get away with about as much spacer as you want.

Ended up ordering 7mm / 10mm Rennline spacers with extended bolts from ECS. We'll see how it looks. Thanks everyone for their info and points of view.

Looking forward to pics once you get it installed. I have been going back and forth on 7 or 10 up front and 10 or 12 in the rear.
