Added a 981 to the Collection
Hello 981 Enthusiasts -
I'm new to this Discussion area, but have posted in the 992 area before. I was fortunate enough to take delivery of a 992 Targa GTS last year. At the time, I also owned a 1989 928 S4 5-speed, and enjoyed tooling around in it on the weekends. While fun to drive, it did not perform well in the canyons (I'm lucky to live near some of the best driving roads in the U.S.), and it certainly wasn't as reliable as a newer car. At first I considered trading in my 992 and 928 and picking up at GT3 Touring, manual. That was as stupid idea by the way, especially when I found the perfect 2016 Boxter S, 6-speed with less than 9K miles on it. Fortunately, I came to my senses, and I picked up the 981 and sold the 928 shortly thereafter. For a brief moment, captured below, I owned 3 Porsches. I'm in love with this 981 and it scratches the exact itch I had when I started on this journey.
Since I purchased it, I've changed out the side markers to clear, and I swapped out the stock steering wheel for a 991.2 steering wheel instead. For now, that's it, and I'm enjoying every minute of this new member to my automotive family. I've attached some pics for your enjoyment. Have been lurking and reading, and learning much from this Discussion area. I know I'm missing a few "sporting" options on my vehicle, but I think I'll be fine with the purity of this build. I hope everyone is enjoying their cars as much as I am.
Drive well!

Very sharp!
I'll bet you drive it more than the Targa.

Nice. I love my Cayman and enjoy driving it more than my 997TT. Just got back a few weeks ago from a road trip to the Arkansas hills and the car performed beautifully, even in the rain.

Congrats. And thanks as you just helped me with my decision to order white gauge faces from my 981C (with stock black hard-to-see faces)!

Awesome choice. I was surprised at how much I love that option.

Congrats, it’s hard not to fall in love with a 981! There is nothing about my 981 that is lacking that would make me want to swap out. Only reason would be curiosity of trying something new. I have been toying with the idea of an emira, but know I would regret losing the frunk, build quality and reliability
Btw your targa looks great, love aventurine
