Default Racing Yellow GT4

Hi all

Long time lurker on the forum but finally after some year in a position to shop for a 981 GT4.

I’ve always listed after the Saphire Blue and Agate cars but never found them available with the build I want at a fair price.

Primarily:

LWB
Leather dash
contrast color stitching

I have an opportunity on a highly built spec with low miles but it’s Racing yellow with interior in yellow stitching on a CPO car.

I’ve traditionally always skipped over the yellow cars but in person it is stunning and with the black contrasts it’s definitely growing on me.

Just looking for help deciding if it’s the right move, I guess worst case it could always be wrapped. I understand it’s all subjective.

It won’t be a daily driver. Just a little apprehensive on the extra attention it might receive.

Also when I was looking years ago the yellow ones did seem to sit for a while on resale. Is that still the case?

If you like it that’s all that matters. I prefer speed yellow from the 987/997 over racing yellow on the 981/991. I buy cars based on condition vs color, but if there’s a color I don’t like I will avoid.

in 2019, I was looking for a CPO GT4, and I also was looking for a blue one. There was not one for sale within 800 miles of me. There was, however, a racing yellow car for sale at a dealer in Boston. I never thought I would want to drive a yellow car, but I decided to go for it. I have been absolutely over the moon with my choice. I completely love it. I’m so glad I have yellow, I would now consider getting other yellow cars, particularly a yellow Ferrari. I think racing yellow is such a pure yellow color (better than the school-bus speed yellow), and on the GT4 with it’s aggressive lines, it just really makes the car pop. I subsequently added some vinyl stripes to mine, which I think makes it look even cooler. So, I would say, go for it, and you won’t regret it.

I just bought a Racing Yellow GT4 and love the color. I will say, Racing Yellow may sit a little longer but people who want yellow will pay a premium for one. There was a link on here recently that said yellow cars have the highest resale value. I do prefer the Platinum wheels on a Racing Yellow car vs. Silver or Black but that is minor. I also searched for steel brakes vs. PCCBs so that is the only color clash on the car but saves me some peace of mind.

This is definitely a personal choice. You have to look at it every time you walk in the garage. I've owned a yellow car before and enjoyed it. This one doesn't check all your boxes?

And fwiw, these cars in general are sitting much longer compared to a year or two ago. Prices are also back down closer to reality with most hovering right at 100k for a very well spec'd car. (collector car mileage aside)

Thanks! Yes it did tick a lot of boxes but other side of the country to me and the miles were high for what I see from most of these.

Appreciate all the responses, helped push me over the edge. Ended up getting one today, 6900 miles, CPO which had fresh tires, new battery and 8 year service. Original MSRP $108,490

well done, adding the Black RS decals makes it look even better in my opinion, I can highly recommend https://autodesign.shop/, if they dont have it they will make it for you at a very reasonable cost and their vinyl is now thicker and easy to apply

Nice! do you mind sharing purchase price? I'm trying to track the market as I'll be looking to get into one in the near future.

I for one prefer Speed Yellow but I have long thought that Racing Yellow really comes alive w/ black accents. Contrast? But the main reason I am posting is just to point out that in my experience it is not easy to get the subtlety of Racing Yellow correct in photos. For example, of the exterior shots posted here, including the RS, only 1 gets Speed right - the lower one in nkm's #9. All the others look more like Speed Yellow to me.
