I'm looking to purchase my first porsche. Its a 2014 cayman S, 6spd manual with all the right options (PTV, X73, sport chrono) and a bunch of extra suspension parts. The seller owned the car for a long time and seems to have taken care of it, and he sent me an overrev report. I've read tons of posts where people say they would not touch a car with time in range 4+. The report does show revs in range 4, but it happened 500h ago. Curious to hear everyone's thoughts. Go for it or wait a bit longer?
The threshold for Range 4 over rev is 7,900 RPM, which translates to approximately 132 ignitions per second (Ignitions per second= RPM/ 60 seconds). Therefore, the 66 Range 4 ignitions shown on your report represent, at most, less than 0.5 total seconds spent in Range 4. Given that this occurred over 500 hours ago, I wouldn't worry about it at all.
Correction per user dps214: Just to clarify, that's 132 revolutions per second. But there's three ignitions per revolution (six ignitions per two revolutions), so that 66 ignitions is 22 revolutions or under 0.2s.
