Default Steering issue at extreme angle

When I turn the wheel to an extreme angle at low speed, I get a jarring, shuddering sensation with the car in motion. It’s similar to my experience when I had the wrong size tires on my (all wheel drive) 996 turbo and the psm would kick in around corners. My 2015 Boxster S is obviously not awd, and is still under warranty. I should add that I bought the car this fall, so it’s only been driven in the cold. Thoughts?

It's called winter. There's a point you put a steep angle on the wheel at and near full lock and the cold grip-less tire gets dragged laterally. It's normal. Don't steer so sharp if you don't have to -- just to keep everything quiet.

Join the club. It appears to be the nature of the beast. Quite alarming but quite normal. I hate it.

Normal and temperature dependent, it seems. Above linked thread is helpful. I had the same question when I bought my '14 Cayman and Porsche service guy proactively advised that this was the case.

Porsche chose this rather than poorer overall cornering.

Can confirm it happens to me too. Annoying. Only when reversing out of my driveway really.

I'm in PHX, so not sure how much cold affects this, but I did notice it start happening once temps dropped here (into 50's-60's).

Inflation drops in cold temps, and if the tires are at around 30 - 32 at that temp, it will make that sound. If you inflate your tires a bit more to 34, you'll get rid of the sound mostly.

Yep. I think virtually all of us have experienced this. I chalk it up as normal for this car.

Almost as jarring as the car dragging the non-rotating front tires out of the garage after washing it. They do eventually turn on the more "grippy" driveway, but it's sure odd to see how much the pads like to embrace the rotors after they've been put away completely wet.

I don't remember either the 944 or the 968 ever doing this. Both those cars had solid rotors. Hmm...
