Default Reversing camera/ Apple Carplay

Hello all. I've had my 2015 GTS for about a week and really enjoying it!
I want to add a reversing camera, all my other cars have one, so I have gotten used to using it.
Maxspeed Motorsport has one that looks well thought out and should be relatively easy for me to install myself.
NM Automotive has an Apple Carplay system that they say requires professional installation. It allows for addition of a reverse camera as well. Has anyone had the NM system installed with a reverse camera?

I have rented a couple of cars lately that have Apple car play. I really like what I see. Having the phone apps on the car screen makes them easy to use especially in a rental car. Both my cars have PCM 3.1 but are on CPO. While the upgrades look promising I am not ready to risk a PCM problem while under warranty.

For another approach, I'm replacing the CDR31 base unit in my 2014 Cayman with an Alpine CarPlay unit that has hookup for a backup camera (which I will also be adding). Suncoast Parts sells a kit that helps facilitate the wiring and provides a nice finish look. I have not completed the project yet so I cannot weigh-in on all the pluses and minuses yet.

Great, that's on my list for this summer. Let me know how it goes and what camera you decide on.

I would certainly like to hear more stories about aftermarket cameras too. Maxspeed looks pretty good, and a local installer is a Nav TV dealer. A camera or two would really make the car more user friendly as a daily driver.

I have installed the Max Speed License Plate Light backup camera in a base 981 Cayman with a Pioneer 4500NEX head unit (removed the OEM CCR unit)

I am disappointed in the quality of the Max Speed License Plate Light backup camera especially at night. It's 420 vs 720p (effective Pixels: 580 x 540).

But the bigger disappointment was the small print I missed that the integrated LED license plate light with the camera has a very different LED color than the OEM left license plate light. It looks horrible and jankie.

They should sell a color matched LED left-side light. Mine is going back.

I am now investigating what to swap in for the center lip mounted camera so the license plate lights return to OEM to color match.

Hopefully others will learn from my mistake.

Thanks for your comments Duffin. I was debating whether to get the light mount or center mount camera, I think I will choose the center mount. Since you changed out the head unit for the Pioneer, can't you use the Pioneer camera, it would likely be better.

The Pioneer is not a good lip mount like a Crux.
