Default Looking for Engine '08 Cayman S

I recently bought a 2008 Cayman S and need to replace the motor.
Anyone here have a good running engine to sell?

I can't help you with a new motor, but just curious, did you buy it as a roller, or did the motor fail on you? If the latter, how did it fail? The M97 in my 08 Boxster S just failed a few months ago and I'm having it rebuilt in the spring (not a cheap proposition BTW!)

i bought the car knowing it has a knock. Rebuilding it is not an option due to cost. I will either find a replacement motor or buy a crashed cayman s at any of the salvage auctions and swap the motors. that way i can resell the other car for parts and recoup a lot of the cost

Sell the house, sell the kids and sell the wife.
Put a LS in it.

I think most people end up paying the wife instead of selling them in that scenario.

Best of luck with that. The engine in my 2006 CS just died on track last month, so I'm in the same boat as you.

If any of you decide to sell rather than repair, I would be interested in discussing details.

Does everyone else use some "better" version of eBay than me? I don't see any remotely good deals on eBay for M97 engines. (translation: $8500 for a used 100k mile motor is not a good deal)

That and another 25 grand will get you a bulletproof 3.6 or 3.8. Then you will have a nice $25,000-$27,000 car.

Sounds like a pretty bad idea.
