Default Looking for dependable aftermarket tire pressure sensor

My car is a 2012 Boxster S (Black Edition). I bought it new in January 2012 so it's 10 years old. One of the tire pressure sensors was replaced about 4 years ago when I had one of the tires serviced. It was at an America's Tire store and the aftermarket sensor has worked flawlessly. Recently one of the other sensors failed so I went back to America's Tire and figured I'd have all 4 replaced since their pricing was pretty good and since I had good luck with the previous replacement by them. Turns out, they don't use the same brand they used before and when all 4 were replaced, sometimes the car recognized them, and then a few minutes later, it would not. So I went back and had them put back what I came in with.

So today, I called the Porsche dealer to get a price to get all 4 replaced. I was quoted $1700 to replace all 4 sensors and labor. That's NOT happening. So has anyone had good luck replacing all 4 tire pressure sensors with aftermarket? If so, do you know which brand/model sensor was used?
Thanks in advance!
Charlie

Charlie - there's also the option of buying four OE tire pressure sensors from suncoast, https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/TPMSensor.html and having them installed at an independent tire vendor.

I admit, that at $165.00 per sensor, it adds up quickly. But it does not add up to $1,700!

Before I sold my '12 CS, I had Discount Tire replace all four TPMS sensors. Total cost was $262 installed -- and they worked flawlessly. I believe the sensors were from HUF.

Check with Tire Rack. I got them for my Cayman last year. Reasonable price but not suspiciously cheap, like stuff on Ebay, etc.
As far as dependable goes, it is one of those things that is hard to track. How many of use even remember when we last changed out our sensors, much less what type of use were they subjected to.

Amazon has Schroeder TPMS for $25 each. They work just fine on mine.

I believe these were what I bought for my 2012 Cayman 3 years ago:

Still going strong, would buy again, and would never pay Porsche prices for these things.

When I looked for a "Discount Tire", it turns out Discount Tire and America's Tire are the same company. I didn't have good luck with their sensors.

Didn't know that, but not totally surprised. Discount Tire is in the process of acquiring Tire Rack. (If it hasn't happened already)

I have purchased 2 sets for my car, one set about 4 years ago for all season wheels, and one set to replace OEM wheels last year that started failing, they look like the one Porsche uses, if I remember correctly the same brand, the price went up a little, now $33 each

This looks promising! Who did you have install them, a tire place I'm assuming?

On my previous car (Caddy ATS) I purchased a set from RockAuto. Those were AC Delco brand, and they worked great (installed and programmed by my local indy).

As I look for options on my 2010 Boxster, I don't see that brand of course, but I do see Denso brand, which is pretty reputable. $60/ea. They don't seem to carry the original HUF brand, which is what Pelican says it the OE item...

Any tire shop can install these. If your tires are getting old I'd take the opportunity to replace the tires at the same time.

I just ordered those exact sensors, as I'm replacing my street tires. Last year I mounted my track tires on used wheels that didn't have TPMS sensors, and also used those same sensors. No problems whatsoever!

I've been really busy and just got around to ordering these today. I have a Wheel shop ready to install them as soon as they arrive.
Thanks for the advice!
