Default My offering for "dumb question of the week" re seats

New-to-me 987S. So yes, there is a latch to allow the seat back to tilt forward. I pull the latch. I tilt the seat forward. Which enables me to do.......what?

There isn't even a pocket integral to the back of the seat so what have I availed.

Feel free to roll your eyes. I'm resilient.

You got a seat originally designed for a 911. Got it's doors and hood too. Parts sharing.

With seats tilted you can also access the front of the engine for maintenance and not have to deal with physically removing the seats.

Get access to the engine cover panel - behind the carpeting.

What the previous two said! Also, seat removal is pretty easy should the need arise. Except for they are rather heavy.

Needed for storage access also 😉.

I stash a few things behind the seats, maybe too much:
  • towel
  • first aid kit
  • radar detector
  • lint roller for fabric top
  • baseball cap
  • wife’s hairbrush
  • umbrella

Yes. Also, it helps to find things you stashed there. Like my cloth cap after the practice autocross last Sunday.

Ask any Elise owner…

Default The sports-car trick:

Black seats heat in the sun. Flip the seats down and you may shade them depending on the sun angle.

I use it when I'm vacuuming the carpet behind the seats. That's in addition to what others have already said.
