Hi all! Has anyone installed a 3rd Radiator kit on a base Boxster 987.1 (2006)? I have found a few videos of how to install the center radiators, but they are all on the "S" model so they already have the bumper inlet, where as I do not. I know I have to cut into the bumper to open it (Porsche sells the retainer frame, etc, with the kit), but curious what people's experiences are, or if they have any advice on making the cuts, or even photos might help. Sorta feel like I'm going into uncharted waters here as I haven't seen anything on someone doing it to my trim/model.

I think I might upgrade the side radiators vs cutting into the bumper, if I was in your shoes.

I just did it on my 2007 Cayman S. As I understand it, the center radiator was stock on cars with the automatic transmission, due to the higher heat loads. So to some degree, it is plug and play. The cutouts in the lower edge of the bumper cover are vital to let the air flow through. I believe you can find a sketch online if you Google it. I have a few tips. Feel free to PM me for details.

I have a 08S that I just did the fancy CSF side rad install on. It a track only car so the ac condensers were removed during this also. I considered adding the center rads but lots of thinking reminded me that the orig plastic end tank rads are now 16 years old . I decided to address them first ( along with the 4 hoses) . Can you post a photo of the front bumper cover, I didn’t know it was different. There is nothing particularly difficult about the process after you drain the coolant, just a lot of pieces.

One option (likely more difficult and costly) would be to find a used S bumper in the same exterior color at a salvage yard and swap it on. Or I'd at least find an S bumper at a junk yard to take measurements from before doing any cutting.

Manual S version does not have the cutouts.... its the S with pdk that you are looking for...

Added the center radiator kit to my 10 CS manual this spring. The front bumper did have the outlines in the bottom of the bumper cover. Just cut them out with a oscillating cutter.

That's incorrect. Manual S has the center bumper cutout, there's just a solid black plastic insert that needs to be removed. Any S bumper will work, manual or auto. Only consideration would be headlight sprayers and if they want a particular paint color.

i have 06 manual. So on the other side of the bumper there are lines there if I take off the bumper? Thanks for the assistance. Looking to install this 3rd radiator as well

If the 987.1 is the same as the 987.2, then that is correct. There are four distinct outlines you can cut when you take off the bumper.
