Default Cutting floor pan to get more headroom in racecar

Anyone cut out the seat mounts and bolt race seat to the pan vs the seat mounts?

2.5 inches of space it looks like if I mount the seat to the floor vs these ribbed seat mounts and just move the immobilizer off to the side

would love a pic of where people started the cut out

Could try contacting these guys - they race(d?) caymans in WRL and see to have built them up themselves...

Yes, did exactly that... moved the seat down and back. Also cutout the hinge boxes for the hatch and replaced with hood pins to get additional room.

Can't get pics right now, but will have the seat out in a month or so and can get pics if you still want them.

The shop did it as part of the cage install.... it looks like they drilled out the spot welds... there is nothing but flat floor... they added some bosses to stengthen... looks like it came from the factory this way....

Another thing you can do, is fabricate the entire seat mount, rather than bolting "standard" side mounts to a plate. Saves another 1/2 in or so...

Whille i can weld and make decent joints... stuff like this I leave to the pros, there is just no room for error.

I just had a big shunt at VIR, and walked away with only a mild concusion. All the safely stuff worked perfectly.

Sorry about the shunt, Jeff but glad you’re doing fine. Hope you are back soon.
